McCarthy Won’t Initiate Biden Impeachment Inquiry Without Floor Vote

-

In an exclusive interview with Breitbart, says he won't open an inquiry into President without a floor vote. “If we move forward,” it “would occur through a vote” on the House floor, the speaker explained to Breitbart's Matthew Boyle.

McCarthy's announcement confirms that moving forward with an impeachment inquiry will require 218 yes votes.

Appearing on 's podcast, Rep. said that she believed the has the votes to initiate formal proceedings against Biden.

Fox News has more:

“To open an impeachment inquiry is a serious matter, and would not take it lightly or use it for political purposes. The American people deserve to be heard on this matter through their elected representatives,” McCarthy told Breitbart News in a statement. “That's why, if we move forward with an impeachment inquiry, it would occur through a vote on the floor of the People's House and not through a declaration by one person.”

McCarthy's position is a departure from how his predecessor Rep. Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., handled the first impeachment inquiry against former President . In 2019, Pelosi unilaterally proclaimed that the House would advance an impeachment inquiry against Trump after the controversy over his infamous phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy.

“This week, the president has admitted to asking the president of Ukraine to take actions which would benefit him politically,” Pelosi said on Sept. 24, 2019. “Therefore, today, I'm announcing the House of Representatives is moving forward with an official impeachment inquiry. I'm directing our six committees to proceed with their investigations under that umbrella.

“The president must be held accountable,” she continued. “No one is above the law.”

A McCarthy spokesperson has not responded to Fox News' request for comment.

  1. The reason McCarthy is right is that #1 He does not control the House – he is only the Speaker – Pelosi acted like a dictator (remember the State of the Union Address), #2 if there is not enough votes to proceed with it there won’t be enough votes to convict Biden and send it to a court action. Better to wait to possible win enough new seats in the House & Senate to ensure Impeachment is possible. Sadly this is one procedure that needs to be corrected. It should go straight to court when the evidence like what we have against Biden exists.

  2. Guess what fellow Patriots? The American Liberty should be renamed The American Communist Rag. They are censored people more and more each day. At first, with Soros backing, they censored Christians. Now they are censoring Muslims. They will probably firing up the flames next for the Jews.

  3. One wonders if this rag is actually run by the Red Communist Chinese to get names and emails of Patriots of which they will make examples? What do you all think?

  4. Mc Carthy is showing his true RINO colors just like his special buddy Paul Ryan. As we all know (or least those of us who were studying at Miami if Ohio when he was) he had a propensity for men and frequented the g-y bars and entertainment venues in Hamilton and Cincinnati which were near the little coutry town Oxford OH home of Mother Miami. Ryan was a wimp SOH and now husband special buddy McCarthy is too. The Republicans should have selected a bold leader, not a wimpy wuss. The Dems know they have their man. Pelosi told them to make the vote look like a circus, but settle for her pick since it had to be an R, make it our R who is a closet G and D.

  5. It should be easy to impeach the Biden criminal McCarthy is a rino first, He caved on the so-called “Inflation Reduction Act” and others. Just like I said he would
