Welcome back to Hill Happenings, your source for the most and least talked about stories on and around Capitol Hill. In a nutshell – these are the stories we won’t miss – even if others have.
Nebraskans officially have their replacement for former U.S. Senator Ben Sasse.
Pete Ricketts is now serving as Nebraska’s junior senator, following his swearing-in ceremony last night. Ricketts was appointed to fill the remainder of Sasse’s seat by Nebraska’s new governor Jim Pillen, who succeeded Ricketts in that role. Ricketts endorsed Pillen to succeed him as governor last year out of a crowded GOP primary field.
There is no higher honor than serving the people of Nebraska, and representing my fellow Nebraskans in the Senate is an incredible privilege. Let's get to work! #TeamRicketts pic.twitter.com/0DA7BFXmXM

Ricketts was also joined at his swearing-in ceremony yesterday by Nebraska’s Senior Senator Deb Fischer, who shared in a tweet that she looks “forward to working together to get results for the people of Nebraska.”

Sasse announced his departure from the Senate last year, after he was chosen to be the President of the University of Florida. He formally resigned earlier this month.

March for Life Returns, Post Roe
Republican Members of Congress including Majority Leader Steve Scalise and New Jersey Congressman Chris Smith spoke at the 50th annual March for Life, last Friday.
Proud to stand with everyone who came to Washington, DC today to march for life!

The March was the first in the Post-Roe era, and featured a revised route that took attendees to both the Supreme Court and on to Capitol Hill.
As last week was the first Congressional recess week of the year, many members were back in their districts, but that still didn’t stop them from chiming into the chorus of pro-life voices that commemorated Friday’s historic March.
I want to welcome everyone who has come to our nation’s Capital today to celebrate a special gift from God: the right to life.

Last week, we passed legislation providing medical care for babies born alive during abortions. You now have a Congress that is standing up for life.
One More Thing: Congressman Stuebe Released From Hospital
Greg Steube – Representative for Florida’s 17th Congressional District – sustained injuries in an accident at his home last week. His office has diligently provided updates on his condition and notified the public yesterday that the Congressman has been released from the hospital and was recovering at home from several injuries including “a fractured pelvis, a punctured lung, and several torn ligaments” in his neck.
I am blessed to have a great support team in my wife Jennifer as well as numerous friends and family, including the Steube pups!

It is believed by many in Nebraska that Pete Ricketts bought the Senate seat with his support of Jim Pillen for governor. Ricketts’ critics also claim that he bought his election as Nebraska governor twice.
