Squad Member Introduces Proposal For $14 Trillion In Reparations

Rep. , D-Mo., has introduced a resolution hoping to revive the federal effort to compensate the descendants of slavery for “its lasting harm on the lives of millions of Black people.”

Bush's resolution calls for the distribution of $14 trillion among Black Americans to close the racial wealth gap.

“The only way we get closer to [reparations] is if we start putting forward those bills that speak to it and are very clear about what reparations could look like,” the St. Louis Democrat said.

She added that the federal needed to hold itself accountable for the harm it's done since the nation's founding.

Republican lawmakers called the proposal absurd.

Fox News has more on the fallout:

“I think that is just the woke ideology peeking and rearing its ugly head,” Rep. , a Republican, said of the push for federal reparations. “In this country, you can do anything, be anything, and this culture of victimhood, it has absolutely gotten out of control.”

The resolution, which Rep. Cori Bush said she would introduce Wednesday, calls for $14 trillion to close the “Black and white wealth gap” that she argues stems from racist governmental policies.

“Black people in our country cannot wait any longer for our government to begin addressing each and every one of the extraordinary bits of harm — all of the harm — it has caused since the founding, that it continues to perpetuate each and every day all across our communities all across this country,” Bush said at a press conference Wednesday alongside fellow Democratic Reps. , and .

But Bush wouldn't say where funding for reparations would come from.

“We're still having those kinds of conversations,” she admitted to Fox News.

  1. What about reparations for other minorities. Specifically for Hispanics once compared to dogs or Asians used as slaves to build America’s railroads. Where does it stop? Reparations is a bunch of horse-crap. In America you just need to get off your ass and off of welfare. Get a freakin job and make something for yourself. STOP asking for FREE HANDOUTS lazy bums…

  2. Why reparations for only blacks? What about other “repressed” minorities? That is so RACIST and DISCRIMINATORY!

  3. “Be the first to comment.” Just make sure that we agree with your comment or we will CENSOR your comment….Comunists at work…

    • What about us of German decent for what Hitler did ? This is crazy. the people loving now did not suffer the discrimination they want reparations for -it was their ancestors that are not living now. My grandmother suffered under Hitler but did make it to America on some ship. So I should get reparations? I wasn’t on that ship and she is no longer living.
The blacks of tody should be grateful that they do not have to suffer like the once who went before them and not expect to get paid for someone else’s pain.

  4. Not a penny is owed. Giving million$ to poor people will cause the death of many, leading to lawsuits for wrongful death.

  5. Fed up with this nonsense – NOBODY living today deserves “reparations” for what happened more than 150 years ago! And here’s some information for all these aggrieved souls who either have no idea or knowledge of U.S. history or choose to ignore it – lots of people have historically experienced discrimination at some point during the development of this country – Asians, Hispanics, etc. But they decided to take advantage of all the possibilities for improving their life in this country regardless. And the 13th amendment to the Constitution, in place since 1865, has prohibited slavery and involuntary servitude in this country. So stuff it!

  6. So, all the people/taxpayers who came to America after the civil war owe nothing. So, get reparations from the folks who had slaves and their families. Oh, and how do we provide reparations for the union soldiers and their families who gave their life and limbs to free all slaves? And let’s not forget the people who facilitated the underground railroad at great risk to them and their families, on and on and on. IMO

  7. Reparations were ALREADY paid during the CIVIL war . . . many paid with their LIVES and MANY businesses were burned to the ground. Those that were HARMED have passed away a LONG time ago. In OTHER words, get OFF your derriere and get to WORK! Thomas Eddison once famously said that the “harder you work, the LUCKIER you get”. Since my ancestry were either immigrants or NEVER owned slaves, I owe NO one ANYTHING, especially REPARATIONS.

  8. Well, that’s just great. Steal from people who never owned slaves to gift to folks who not only were never slaves, they today are the most privileged in the USA: you cannot call them names, if they steal or assault you, you cannot shoot at them without facing serious charges. Racism to the nth power!
