You know it is bad when the number one issue in deep blue Massachusetts is illegal immigration.
That's right; the latest liberal Mass, Inc. poll shows that the “migrant” crisis is the top concern. While this is the People's Republic of Massachusetts, the polling data was not surprising. Over the past two months, Democrat legislative leaders have been making moves to appear that they are addressing the situation. Can you say November elections?
They are worried!
First, they passed a supplemental budget with another $260 million to house the illegals, but this time they included a nine-month cap for the illegals staying in taxpayer-funded housing. For the average voter, it appears that the Democrats are cracking down on the situation. In reality, the cap is a complete joke. It has so many loopholes no illegal will be limited to the nine-month stay. They can request a three-month extension if they have any sort of medical ailment or if their kid is in school or if they don't want to go. But, even if they do leave, our Governor Maura Healey puts them into the HomeBASE program where they get $15,000 for an apartment. (RELATED: 64 Reasons (Even) Massachusetts Should Vote Republican)
Another way they are trying to fool voters is in the 2025 state budget. Last week, Massachusetts House Democrats announced that their budget funded the housing for illegals at $500 million which is half of what our liberal governor requested. They did not cut the funding to slow the influx of illegals. They did it for campaign talking points, so legislators can go back to their districts and say they cut funding in half. Once we get past the November elections, they will push through a supplemental budget to fully fund the housing and other benefits for the illegals.
It is all smoke and mirrors.
If they had any real intention of stopping the influx, they would amend the right to shelter law, which entitles any homeless person to emergency shelter. It is a quick fix! All they have to do is say these benefits are only for our legal residents.
Democrats are in real trouble over the invasion of illegals. Republicans need to keep their feet on their necks on this issue and not let up. We have to take back our nation, and hence, we need to own the fix!
