Washington, D.C. – Tucker Carlson, the host of one of the Fox News Channel’s highest-rated primetime programs, has left the network it was announced Monday.
“FOX News Media and Tucker Carlson have agreed to part ways. We thank him for his service to the network as a host and prior to that as a contributor,” the network said in a statement.
Carlson’s last program was Friday, April 21st, the network said.
A new “Fox News Tonight” program will replace Carlson in the 8 p.m. time slot. It will be hosted by a rotating group of network personalities until the slot is filled permanently, various media outlets reported.
Speculation was high as the news broke that Carlson’s departure is somehow connected to Fox’s recent decision to settle a defamation lawsuit filed by Dominion Voting Systems over its reporting of the results of the 2020 presidential election.
Other conservative-leaning media outlets said the news should be seen as further evidence of Fox’s drift away from the interests of its base audience.
“For a while, Fox News has been moving to become establishment media and Tucker Carlson’s removal is a big milestone in that effort,” Newsmax CEO Christopher Ruddy said. “Millions of viewers who liked the old Fox News have made the switch to Newsmax and Tucker’s departure will only fuel that trend.”
As the Carlson story was unfolding, controversial liberal anchor Don Lemon announced he’d been fired from CNN for reasons he said he did not understand.
“I was informed this morning by my agent that I have been terminated by CNN,” Lemon tweeted. “I am stunned. After 17 years at CNN, I would have thought that someone in management would have had the decency to tell me directly. At no time was I ever given any indication that I would not be able to continue to do the work I have loved at the network.”
Media insiders have been suggesting for some time that Lemon’s conduct, both on and off the air, had left him in a precarious position that threatened his continued employment.

They are weeding out all of the Prime time host that are very conservative; there are Levin, Hannity, Igraham, left in prime time; there are several host and co-host left in daytime programing. I’m afraid that when Murdock’s left wing sons take over, we will just have another left wing propaganda media outlet.
