As roving gangs tighten their grip on Port-au-Prince, Haitian officials are now pointing the finger—at the United States. Their claim? That a surge in firearms, allegedly smuggled in from states like Florida, is fueling the wave of violence plaguing the country’s capital.

According to reports, weapons purchased in the U.S. are winding up in the hands of Haitian gangs—many of whom openly terrorize neighborhoods, traffic women and children and operate with impunity. But here’s the part journalists don’t want to talk about: those weapons aren’t walking themselves off the boat. (RELATED: Legacy Media Redemption Fantasy? This isn’t a Second Amendment issue—it’s a border and accountability issue. If Haiti can’t police its ports or secure its own institutions, blaming law-abiding American citizens isn’t going to fix that.

Meanwhile, the United Nations, ever eager to point the finger at the U.S., is now calling for “greater international cooperation” to stop the arms flow. Translation? Instead of smearing gun-owning Americans, maybe it’s time for Haiti to ask why its political class let gangs overrun the country in the first place.
