ANALYSIS – A two-year campaign of deception, and intimate help from the Iranian terror regime, ensured Israel was caught off guard when the Palestinian Islamist terrorist group Hamas launched its brutal dawn attack on Saturday against Israel. The deception, as well as what appears to be substantial Hamas intelligence on the Israeli border defenses, allowed bulldozers, motorized hang gliders, motorcycles and all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) to take on the powerful Israeli Defense Forces (IDF).
The Hamas leadership misled Israel by providing economic incentives to Gazan workers, allowing them work permits, to make it appear they were ready for a more normalized relationship.
This, even as the terrorist group’s fighters were being trained ‘often in plain sight.’
Shin Bet, Israel’s domestic intelligence service, Mossad, its external spy agency, and the military intelligence assets of the IDF apparently were in the dark that Hamas was preparing a massive assault across the border.
And apparently, so was the American Intelligence Community (IC).
This is the worst breach of Israel’s defenses and the worst intelligence failure since multiple Arab armies surprised the IDF in the Yom Kippur War 50 years ago, almost to the day, in 1973. (RELATED: Biden Barbecues As Israel Burns And Americans Killed And Kidnapped)
Hamas and Hezbollah claim the deadly attack was planned with Iran’s Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC). The Iranians, who are Shia Muslims, are reported to have attended biweekly meetings with both Hamas, a Sunni terror group, and Hezbollah, Shia terrorists, in Beirut since August.
Tehran has dismissed the claims. And the Biden White House is desperately trying to play down any link. (RELATED: Video: Iranian Speedboats And Drones Swarm US Helicopter Carrier In Hormuz Strait)
But The Wall Street Journal produced a detailed report on how Tehran helped direct and plan the attack. And Hamas could never have pulled this off without direct Iranian direction and support.
The Journal explained that:
The IRGC’s broader plan is to create a multi-front threat that can strangle Israel from all sides—Hezbollah and the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine in the north and Palestinian Islamic Jihad and Hamas in Gaza and the West Bank, according to the senior Hamas and Hezbollah members and an Iranian official.
I will delve more into the Iranian aspect of this attack, and the likelihood of a broader war, in future reports.
“Hamas used an unprecedented intelligence tactic to mislead Israel over the last months by giving a public impression that it was not willing to go into a fight or confrontation with Israel,” a source close to Hamas said.
Hamas even built a mock Israeli settlement in Gaza where they practiced military tactics and trained to storm it, the source said, adding they even made videos of the drills.
The actual assault, prepared with the help of IRGC commanders, was divided into multiple stages. (RELATED: Hamas Savages Slaughter 40 Israeli Babies, Some Beheaded)
The first move was a barrage of 3,000 rockets fired from Gaza that coincided with incursions by terrorists who flew powered hang gliders over the border.
Once the gliders were on the ground, the militants secured the terrain so a Hamas commando unit (Nukhba) could storm the fortified electronic and concrete barrier that divides Gaza from the settlements.
The terrorists used explosives to breach the barriers at up to 15 locations as bulldozers widened the gaps, and the Hamas killers swarmed across on motorcycles and ATVs. Motorboats were also deployed along Israel’s coastal town and military base of Zikim, where the Hamas infiltration was foiled.
Hamas also used drones, including one that reportedly helped take out an Israeli tank near the border.
A Hamas commando unit reportedly attacked the Israeli army’s southern Gaza headquarters and jammed its communications, preventing personnel from calling commanders or each other. However, this hasn’t been confirmed.
The IDF estimates that around 1,000 terrorists entered Israel, with fighting focused on seven or eight locations, including at Kibbutz Be’eri, where a Hamas tunnel is believed to be located.
The final phase was to take over 100 Israelis hostage, including women and children, and to stash them in multiple secure locations in the Gaza Strip. (RELATED: Biden Admin Approves Deal With Iran, Swapping Prisoners For $6 Billion)
At least 900 Israelis have been killed since Saturday, including 44 soldiers, with over 2,100 wounded.
Israeli air and artillery strikes on Hamas and Islamic Jihad targets in Gaza have killed almost 500 people and wounded 2,750. The Israeli government has declared the entire Gaza strip under ‘siege’ as it calls up 300,000 reservists, deploys armored forces and prepares a potentially massive counter-assault into Gaza.

I don’t recall any reports of IDF soldiers murdering innocent civilians, decapitating infants, or dragging wheel-chair-bound civilians out just to put a bullet in them. I never heard of IDF forces callously murdering young people at a Music festival dedicated to Peace! If the Arab world even wanted these “Palestinians”, it would have surrendered its land to form a new Palestine. But even the Arab world refused!
