ANALYSIS – In the latest example of tone-deaf behavior from our befuddled and demented commander-in-chief, Joe Biden, and his wife Jill, cluelessly hosted a White House barbecue on Sunday with a live band for residence staff and families.
The music could be heard from a distance into the evening.
This day of lighthearted gaiety went on even as reports were flooding in that Americans were among those brutally murdered or taken hostage in the horrific and ongoing Hamas terror rampage against Israel. (RELATED: Report: Israel-Hamas Death Toll Rises Amid Ongoing Conflict)
“We can confirm the deaths of several U.S. citizens,” a National Security Council spokesperson said in a statement.
On Monday, the State Department confirmed that at least nine Americans were killed in the surprise Hamas terror attack.
But don't let dead Americans ruin a good party.
While the frail Biden was probably in bed by 8 p.m. on Sunday, his party went on.
Biden had called a lid at 11:34 a.m. before preparing for the barbecue.
The term ‘calling a lid' means that the president will not be making any more public statements or be available to the press for the rest of the day. Axios reported that on Sunday, Israeli Ambassador to the U.S. Mike Herzog and Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer confirmed that American citizens were also among those Hamas took hostage and taken to Gaza.
And this requires the White House's full attention. However, Colin Rugg posted on X, formerly Twitter:
In response to these reports, Secretary of State Blinken says the US is ‘working overtime.'
One person who doesn't seem to be working overtime is Biden who is hosting a BBQ at the White House with a live band.
As Newsweek reported:
At least 700 people have been killed in Israel, and a further 400 in Gaza, since the incursion by Hamas according to the Associated Press. Israel has officially declared war against the Islamist organization, which has been designated as a terrorist group by the U.S. and the European Union.
Hamas is alleged to have captured Israeli hostages, including elderly people and children. Israel and U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken also reported that American citizens may have been taken hostage. The reports haven't yet been confirmed.
The Republican reaction was swift. Newsweek added:
“While Hamas holds Americans hostage, Joe Biden is enjoying a picnic with a live band,” [Senator Josh] Hawley posted on X, formerly Twitter, while sharing a White House pool report noting that music “could be heard coming from the area around the Rose Garden” on Sunday evening. The pool report added that Biden and the First Lady were “hosting a BBQ” for White House executive resident staff and their families.
Scott Taylor, a former Virginia Republican congressman, added: “Given recent events, and certainly with the news of many Americans being held hostage in Gaza, I think I would have canceled the White House BBQ with the live band.”
Online, Steve Guest noted the National Security Council had said the president was ‘monitoring the situation closely' while at the same time having a barbecue.
Abigail Jackson, a spokesperson for Hawley, wrote: ‘Biden is literally at a BBQ with a live band…he's not closely monitoring anything except maybe the chicken on his plate.

As usual, Biden ran and hid instead of performing the Presidential duties of the Commander In Chief and staying near a phone. Oh well, Obama and Soros are probably handling the situation.
Since Israel is never going to win the public relations campaign, they should just take off the gloves and level Gaza. Americans should also never forget that, on 9/11/2001, Israelis wept and Palestinians danced in the streets and handed out candy to their kids. The latter most probably an effort to create the next generation of terrorists………………………..those who just committed acts of barbarity in Southern Israel.
