In order for McCarthy to get the final votes to become Speaker, he had to make concessions. One of his agreements to get enough votes to win his throne was to allow a vote on term limits despite his opposition to the issue.
It has been 28 years since a congressional vote was allowed on this issue which more than 80 percent of Americans support. However, it appears McCarthy is not going to keep the integrity of his promise.
More than 100 members of Congress have signed the U.S. Term Limits pledge supporting limiting representatives to three terms in the House and two terms in the Senate. Instead of allowing Rep. Ralph Norman’s, R-S.C., bill on the floor as written, McCarthy is going to either amend that bill or send another bill to the floor, which takes all the teeth out of the term limits. He is going to do a bait-and-switch on term limits.
This summer, McCarthy plans on allowing a vote on legislation that would limit House members to six terms — 12 years — and senators to two terms – 12 years. That means a politician can stay in Washington for 24 years. It won’t end the stranglehold of career politicians. It won’t end 90 percent of PAC money going to incumbents. And it certainly won’t restore our Founding Fathers’ vision of a citizen legislature.
But, this vote will give McCarthy the appearance that he kept his commitment for a term limits vote when he has actually betrayed us. If this potentially short-termed speaker does take the teeth out of term limits, it more than proves the point that politicians should not serve decades in Washington, because they care more about themselves than the people. McCarthy will be betraying 80 percent of Americans who have had enough of career politicians. He will also be jeopardizing the 2024 elections. When Speaker Paul Ryan failed to push the conservative agenda, there was a backlash at the polls that led to Nancy Pelosi becoming Speaker again. With only a five member majority, McCarthy could easily lose control of the House to the Democrats.
While McCarthy doesn’t like term limits, he should realize that this issue could win him more members. Voters across party lines want term limits. If he was to push a true term-limit agenda, he would not only gain strength in the House, but he could also secure a legacy of returning Congress back to the people. It would be nothing more than political suicide for him to push a fake term limits bill.
Time is of the essence. Please call your representative and ask them to support Rep. Ralph Norman’s true term limit bill. Let’s wake McCarthy up and save the Republican majority.

I think America would be better off if we just kicked California out of the union. That’s where this guy comes from and that’s how they think out there. He just can’t help himself and will never be on the same page as America. The Speaker should not let his own district’s Marxist politics effect policies that would be good for the country as a whole. There is no room for compromise with those who would destroy the Constitution and Bill of Rights like the current traitorous regime, squatting in our White House and infesting Congress.

McCarthy, your days as House Speaker will be numbered, if you keep pushing your nonsense. Do a Biden, and stay home in your basement. Let honest politicians do the job they were elected for. You are a typical RINO. I don’t know what got into Congress to elect you, of all the people, to be the Speaker of the House. With the nonsense that you are pushing, you are handing the speaker ship right back into the hands of the Democrats. They are just waiting for their chance. Take my advise and stay in your basement.
