HOMELAND SECURITY

WELL DESERVED PRISON TIME – Alabama Army veteran, who parked ‘small armory' near Capitol on 1/6 gets prison. An Alabama man who parked a pickup truck filled with weapons and Molotov cocktail components near the U.S. Capitol on the day of last year's riot was sentenced Friday to nearly four years in prison.

Camp of Ukrainians at the US-Mexico border swells, as more refugees arrive. Hundreds of Ukrainians are camping in the Mexican border city of Tijuana hoping to seek U.S. asylum, a surge in arrivals just days after the Biden administration said the would accept up to 100,000 Ukrainians fleeing from war.

RUSSIA THREAT – UKRAINE WAR

Bucha: US Congress reacts to Russia's alleged Ukraine massacre. Ukraine's defense ministry alleged that civilians in Bucha, northwest of Kyiv, were “executed arbitrarily” while it was occupied by Russian troops for several weeks. Some were killed with their hands tied behind their backs and their bodies were left scattered in the streets, the ministry claimed.

Russia-Ukraine live news: UN chief urges independent Bucha probe. United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres says he was “deeply shocked” by images of dead civilians in the town of Bucha, near the Ukrainian capital, Kyiv and calls for an independent investigation.

Ukrainian helicopters raid oil depot in Russian city: reports. A pair of Ukraine's Mi-24 “Hind” helicopters have reportedly made a daring raid more than 20 miles into Russia, destroying an oil depot in the southern city of Belgorod on Friday, according to Russian officials and open source reports.

US sending additional $300 million in military aid to Ukraine. The Pentagon notified Congress on Friday that it is sending Ukraine an additional $300 million of warfighting equipment that includes laser-guided missiles and drones.

Conscripts sent to fight by pro-Russia Donbas get little training, old rifles, poor supplies – sources. Military conscripts in the Russian-backed Donbas region have been sent into front-line combat against Ukrainian troops with no training, little food and water, and inadequate weapons, six people in the separatist province told Reuters.

DESPICABLE – Former US Marine accused of rape in Ukraine. The victim is currently in Poland receiving medical attention for injuries sustained during the attack.

THREAT

Iran blames US for halt to Vienna nuclear talks. The United States is responsible for the pause in talks between Tehran and world powers in Vienna aimed at reviving their 2015 nuclear deal, an Iranian foreign ministry spokesperson said on Monday.

INTERNATIONAL SECURITY

Why 40 African armies met at a Fort Benning summit — and why some didn't. It was a rare sight, especially on American soil. Seated around nested U-shaped tables in the heart of the city's renovated ironworks were senior military officials representing nearly three-quarters of Africa's 54 UN-recognized countries.

  1. Sorry but I’m going to need alot more information on the case of any 1/6 protester before I agree that his punishment is “well deserved”. The government has no credibility since they’re basically locking up political enemies on bogus charges like some third world dictatorship. There’s too much desire in the media to just lump everyone from 1/6 together, to not do any investigating and just say whatever the Biden administration wants to do with them is fine.
