As dozens of nations, including several rogue states, gathered for China’s massive military parade in Beijing, President Trump issued his own warm message to Xi Jinping.
“Please give my warmest regards to Vladimir Putin, and Kim Jong Un, as you conspire against The United States of America,” Trump said in a Truth Social post directed at China’s leader.
On the surface, the Chinese “Victory Day” parade, China’s biggest ever, marked the 80th anniversary of Imperial Japan’s surrender at the end of World War II.
In reality, it was a colossal display of strength, showcasing hypersonic missiles, drones, and fighters as part of Xi’s push to modernize the military and challenge the West. Xi also praised the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) as a “heroic force.”
As I wrote earlier, the parade also capped a two-day summit of rogue state and other world leaders at the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting in China, where China and Russia both challenged the U.S.-led world order.
All those in attendance also appeared to support Russia in its unprovoked war of aggression against Ukraine.
Correctly gauging the Chinese show of force and anti-American solidarity, Trump made it clear he knew what this spectacle was all about, a deepening Chinese-led “axis of upheaval” against America.
In his Truth Social post, Trump also reminded China that it could not have survived the Japanese military onslaught without the “massive amount of support and ‘blood’” the U.S. gave China during World War Two.
“The big question to be answered is whether or not President Xi of China will mention the massive amount of support and ‘blood’ that The United States of America gave to China in order to help it to secure its FREEDOM from a very unfriendly foreign invader.”
“Many Americans died in China’s quest for Victory and Glory. I hope that they are rightfully Honored and Remembered for their Bravery and Sacrifice!”
Meanwhile, the Kremlin dismissed Trump’s accusations of a burgeoning anti-American conspiracy in Beijing.
“No one was plotting any conspiracies, no one was plotting anything,” foreign policy aide Yuri Ushakov told state television. “Moreover, no one even had such a thought.”
A Kremlin spokesperson said later that the nations in Beijing had been acting “for the greater good of the peoples of our countries, not against third countries,” saying nobody “has the time or desire” for plotting.
But, at the parade Xi declared China was “unstoppable” and said that humanity must choose between peace and war as he outlined his alternative to the U.S.-led global order.
And experts agree with Trump’s take on the expanding anti-U.S. alliance. Edward Howell, a Lecturer at Oxford University told NBC News:
This axis of authoritarian states is strengthening. It’s not just individual threats coming from North Korea or Russia or China, it’s the links between all three of them.
Not mentioned by Howell, Iran’s leader, whose country has provided military support for Russia’s war on Ukraine, and Islamist terrorists worldwide, was also in Beijing.
While calling out the threat, Trump also warned those in attendance in China.
“We have the strongest military in the world by far,” he said. “They would never use their military on us, believe me. That would be the worst thing they could ever do.”
