2.2 Million Demand Clemency For Illegal Trucker In Florida Triple Fatality Case

Dashcam footage shows alleged illegal U-turn that killed three…

A Change.org petition calling on Florida Governor Ron DeSantis to commute the sentence of Harjinder Singh — an Indian national in the U.S. illegally — has garnered over 2.2 million signatures. Singh, 28, is facing three counts of vehicular homicide stemming from a fatal crash on the Florida Turnpike.

According to authorities, Singh made an illegal U-turn in a semi-truck, triggering a violent collision with a minivan. Three people were killed. Dashcam footage captures the maneuver and aftermath. Singh was arrested at the scene and now faces up to 45 years in prison if convicted.

Petition paints Singh as family man, minimizes immigration status

The petition, which has circulated widely in Punjabi, Canadian, and Australian communities, portrays Singh as a migrant worker struggling to support his family. It describes the crash as a tragic accident and argues that the potential sentence is excessive. Notably, it makes no mention of his unlawful immigration status or his limited English proficiency, which prevented him from understanding most traffic signs.

The New York Post continues:

“This was a tragic accident — not a deliberate act. While accountability matters, the severity of the charges against him does not align with the circumstances of the incident,” the petition reads.

Manisha Kaushal, the creator of the petition, signed it “Collective Punjabi youth,” and many of the commenters in support appear to be Indian nationals.

“It was an accident. he made a terrible mistake, not a deliberate choice to harm anyone. He was working hard to support his family, like so many of us, and one wrong decision changed everything. A 45-year prison sentence is not justice,” one commenter, Marvi, based in Sydney, Australia, wrote.

“45 yrs of imprisonment?? is it fair for a young boy who left his home country to have bright future, support family???” a second user based in Mississauga, Ontario, wrote.

Supporters argue that Singh had no criminal history and did not intend harm. Critics, however, point out that driving a commercial truck without meeting legal standards — including legal residency — is a serious risk to public safety.

CDL issued despite immigration red flags

Records show Singh obtained a full-term Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) from Washington state in July 2024 — despite not holding lawful permanent resident status or U.S. citizenship. Federal regulations explicitly bar CDL issuance to those without legal status.

That same month, California granted Singh a limited-term, non-domiciled CDL. California allows asylum seekers and some individuals with work authorization to obtain such licenses, but federal law still prohibits it for those unlawfully present in the country.

The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and the Department of Transportation (DOT) are now investigating California and Washington. The American Trucking Associations (ATA), meanwhile, has publicly pressed California officials in particular for answers.

Language and safety tests raise red flags

After the devastating crash, FMCSA investigators tested Singh’s English proficiency and ability to recognize road signs. The results were striking: he correctly answered only two of 12 verbal English questions and identified just one of four standard highway signs. Federal regulations require all CDL holders to understand road signage and communicate effectively in English.

The findings raised serious questions about the integrity of the licensing process that allowed Singh to pass earlier tests.

Backlash builds over online campaign

The petition’s momentum has sparked sharp debate.

Critics argue that calling for clemency before a verdict undermines the legal process. Others question how someone in the country illegally obtained a commercial license and managed to operate a heavy vehicle across state lines.

Supporters continue to portray Singh as a scapegoat of a system that fails migrant workers. But for millions of Americans — including many Floridians and the families affected by the crash — the focus remains on justice, immigration enforcement, and public safety.

I’d bet that not a single one of those ‘demanding’ clemency for this individual would willingly adopt him into their family and let him become their chauffeur, especially so if they have kids.
BTW – his illegal entry AND his ongoing licensing ‘issues’ DOES demonstrate ‘intent’. IOW it was just a matter of time before something like this happened and fortunately it wasn’t even worse.

If this is true our fight to save America isn’t going well and we need to up our game.

No clemency for this killer. The only thing that he should get is the death penalty that should be carried out post haste. He killed three innocent people.

We in the USA are NOT a Democracy (mob rule). We are a Constitutional Republic where elected and appointed officials make such decisions. This man is here illegally and was given an illegal CDL by corrupt officials in California. He should pay a high price for causing the deaths of our fellow American citizens.

This is really a bad precedent for all these people to be wanting to grant him clemency. I mean he killed 3 people. 3 people who could have been alive and living their lives peaceably if not for him. He knew he had to speak English and he knew that he had to pass a driving test and know all the road signs. If he didn’t, he should have. Shame on Washington state and California issuing him a commercial license when he didn’t even know the road signs. Just think of all the people he could have killed if this accident had not happened. This was a horrible tragedy, and someone must be accountable, and it is him and Washington and California. Drunk drivers go to jail and his driving having no knowledge of any traffic rules puts him in that category whether he intended to do it or not. I wonder which traffic signs he did know. I hope he knew what a stop sign was. THese foreign drivers need to be vetted more.

The people who are supporting this man would change their tunes if one of the people who were killed were a relative of theirs! He broke the law by coming into this country illegally, and by not being able to properly operate, or read road signs for this type of vehicle.

This is nothing more than “stuffing the ballot box” by a Soros paid contingency of un-American, self-serving parasites. “Ah, it’s just three lives among the 8+ billion on the planet; in India, this wouldn’t even make it into the news!”
America for Americans; they deserve deportation as much as Singh!

    Whottleboop Balldinger

LOL!!! C’mon you ignorant bastards! This piece of garbage is a criminal before he earns any other title.
As soon as he crossed our border illegaly, nothing else is important. From that point on, he deserves no other consideration.
How the hell did he get a CDL lisense in the first place?

    SmackEm

How many more people – Legal U.S. Citizens need to die because these Illegal Immigrants can not read signs that are written in this lands National/ Standard Language??? I suppose if a sign that sates In Our Language for a person not to cross a Interstate Highway on foot and a person who can’t read the sign goes ahead and crosses on foot and gets hit by a vehicle you all would say that it is the fault of the vehicle driver. You people are surely sick.

These people are either NOT AMERICANS or something worse — traitors. This man’s actions were awful and fatal for 3 American citizens. He deserves to pay the ultimate price for vehicular manslaughter X 3.

    RRRoger

There are probably a lot more the 2 million who believe this illegal alien deserves to be punished to the letter of the law.
We need Law & Order, not softness on crime.
The only possible relief should be self deportation.
