Law enforcement agencies have swarmed the campus of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill following reports of shots fired.
UNC-Chapel Hill issued a notification alert for an “armed and dangerous” person earlier this afternoon. Police continue to search for the gunman after unverified claims appeared on social media that authorities had apprehended a suspect.

Students have sheltered in place since the first reports of gunfire near Caudill Labs on the campus’ north side.
