President Joe Biden suggested that former President Donald Trump is running for the White House again to avoid prison time, a statement that has drawn criticism from some who accuse Biden of wanting Trump behind bars.
Speaking at a campaign rally for Vice President Kamala Harris in Philadelphia on Tuesday, Biden referenced Trump’s mounting legal challenges. “This is the same guy who’s been held liable for $83 million for sexual abuse and defamation, the same guy responsible for getting rid of Roe v. Wade, the same guy with three other major cases waiting for him when he loses,” Biden said, adding that he wants to watch the proceedings.
“Look, Donald Trump is not running for you. He’s running for himself. I think he’s running to stay out of jail,” Biden emphasized, sparking speculation about whether the president hopes for a criminal outcome in Trump’s various legal battles.
Biden’s remarks came around the same time Harris issued her own stark warning about what a second Trump presidency could mean for his political opponents. During her audio town hall with Charlamagne tha God, Harris claimed Trump has made it clear that he would weaponize the Department of Justice if reelected.
“Donald Trump has been very clear that he would use the Department of Justice against his political enemies,” Harris warned. She alleged Trump would replace career officials with loyalists who would serve his interests. “You talk about threats to our democracy, Donald Trump would manipulate the DOJ to use it as a weapon against his political opponents,” she added.
Charlamagne echoed Harris’ concerns, suggesting that Trump would target journalists and others who criticize him. “Yeah, he’s going to lock y’all up if he gets back in office,” he said.
Harris agreed, emphasizing the danger Trump could pose to democratic institutions. “Journalists, judges, others—and you know who does that? Dictators do that. Other countries do that,” she said.

The irony is that the Department of Justice and elected Democratic prosecutors at the state level have been prosecuting Trump for several years in highly dubious and, critics say, partisan cases.
Trump’s “34 felonies” relate to payments to adult film star Stormy Daniels (née Stephanie Crawford) as part of a legal non-disclosure agreement. George Soros-backed prosecutor Alvin Bragg claimed that Trump failed to report the payments as federal campaign expenditures; the conviction is considered likely to be overturned on appeal. (Under the same standard, Harris or her husband, Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff, could be prosecuted for his payments to a former nanny as part of a non-disclosure agreement relating to his affair with her, which ended his first marriage.)
Biden has also admitted to placing inappropriate influence on the Department of Justice to prosecute protesters who were present at the January 6, 2021, riot at the Capitol, saying that he hoped the department “goes after them and holds them accountable criminally.”
“The way I said it was not appropriate,” he later admitted on CNN.

Biden’s comments are actually what the Democrats are doing and have done for years. I think the Democrat’s motto is to accuse others of doing what they are doing when making these kinds of claims about Republicans, because they have made these kind of allegations about Republicans in the past.
