An aging 80s rock star was reportedly caught by cops after sexually assaulting a teenage girl that he was holding in his New Jersey home.
Authorities have charged Marc Piovanetti, a former guitarist for Carnivore and Crumbsuckers, with sexual assault of a minor.
The dramatic arrest unfolded after the New York Police Department alerted Fort Lee authorities about a missing child between 13-16 years old. The child was found at the Piovanettis’ home. Marc, 58, allegedly met the victim on TurnUp, a social media app, arranged a meeting and plied her with marijuana before committing sexual assault.
The Daily Mail reports how the desperate girl managed to escape her horrific captivity:
At some point over the course of the weekend, the girl was able to take Marc’s phone and began contacting her mother.
Officers were then able to ping the phone and located the teenager at the home.
Marc’s wife, Jennifer Piovanetti, 50, also faces charges for being present during the incident and doing nothing. She faces charges of endangering the welfare of a child.
Infuriatingly, this isn’t Marc’s first offense. In 2017, a New York City judge handed down an inexplicably light sentence of 10 years probation following his conviction of raping a minor under 15, engaging in a criminal sexual act with a victim unable to consent due to mental incapacity and possessing inappropriate materials involving a minor.
He is now facing four counts of second degree sexual assault, second degree luring, second degree endangering the welfare of a child and two counts of third degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Jennifer, meanwhile, is facing charges of second and third-degree endangering the welfare of a child.
Both Marc and Jennifer are in custody at the Bergen County Sheriff’s Office, awaiting their first court appearance.
