Ongoing Investigation Into Campaign Finances
Republican Congressman Andy Ogles confirmed on Tuesday night that the FBI executed a search warrant on his home and seized his personal cellphone. The action is allegedly part of an ongoing investigation into his campaign's financial activities.
Federal agents seized Rep. Ogles' phone the day after he won his primary, according to Fox News:
Last Thursday, Ogles won a high-profile primary battle against Nashville Metro Council member Courtney Johnston. His supporters included former President Trump and Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.
“Andy is working hard to Grow the Economy, Stop Inflation, Secure our Southern Border, Uphold the Rule of Law, and Defend our Second Amendment,” Trump wrote on Truth Social in May. “I was proud to help Andy flip a Democrat seat in 2022, and he has my Complete and Total Endorsement for re-election. He will not let you down!”
Ogles' office has not yet responded to Fox News' request for comment.
Campaign Finance Issues
Posting on X (formerly known as Twitter), Ogles acknowledged the ongoing scrutiny over his campaign's financial reports. He stated, “Reports have been ongoing for months about our campaign making mistakes in our initial financial filings.”
He further elaborated, “We have worked diligently with attorneys and reporting experts to correct the errors and ensure compliance going forward. Last Friday, the FBI took possession of my cell phone. It is my understanding that they are investigating the same well-known facts surrounding these filings. I will, of course, fully cooperate with them, just as I have with the Federal Election Commission. I am confident all involved will conclude that the reporting discrepancies were based on honest mistakes, and nothing more.”
Political Moves and Accusations
Ogles, representing Tennessee's 5th Congressional District since January 2023, is no stranger to the spotlight. He recently filed articles of impeachment against Vice President Kamala Harris shortly after she became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. The filing expanded on previously introduced articles by targeting Harris' immigration record as she launched her presidential campaign.
Ogles introduced a second article in the new filing, claiming that Harris covered up President Biden's cognitive status, which he argues constitutes a “breach of public trust.”
Background on Tennessee's 5th Congressional District
Tennessee's 5th Congressional District includes the southern portion of Davidson County (Nashville) and some surrounding, heavily Republican areas. The seat is not expected to be competitive in upcoming elections.

WHEN are they going to investigate Shamala’s illegal acceptance of PAC money that was donated to Bidumb’s campaign???? That’s definitely a FEC violation of $100M or more.
