House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said he will move to hold former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in contempt of Congress after she refused to appear for a scheduled deposition Wednesday as part of the committee’s investigation into Jeffrey Epstein.
The panel is expected to consider a contempt resolution against Hillary Clinton next week, alongside a similar measure targeting her husband, former President Bill Clinton. Bill Clinton failed to appear for a scheduled deposition on Tuesday related to the same investigation.
“I think what’s most disappointing to the Oversight Committee is the fact that we have, in good faith, negotiated with the Clintons’ attorney for five months,” Comer said. “Throughout the past five months, they’ve implied to us they are trying to make a date work.”
The Oversight Committee issued subpoenas to the Clintons in a bipartisan vote last summer as part of a broader effort to examine the federal government’s handling of the Epstein case. The subpoenas also covered former attorneys general, FBI directors, and other senior officials. Many of those individuals were ultimately not called to testify after submitting sworn statements asserting they had no relevant information for the investigation.
In a joint letter sent to Comer on Tuesday, the Clintons argued that the subpoenas were legally invalid. They also accused Comer of failing to sufficiently pressure the Department of Justice to comply with a law requiring the release of materials related to the Epstein investigation.
Asked about that criticism, Rep. Scott Perry (R-Pa.), who initially moved to subpoena the Clintons, dismissed the argument.
“We can walk and chew gum at the same time,” Perry said.
Attorneys for the Clintons also told the committee that both former officials have already submitted sworn statements indicating they possess no relevant information related to the panel’s inquiry.
“President and Secretary Clinton have already provided the limited information they possess about Jeffrey Epstein and Ghislaine Maxwell to the Committee,” their lawyers wrote. “They did so proactively and voluntarily, and despite the fact that the Subpoenas are invalid and legally unenforceable, untethered to a valid legislative purpose, unwarranted because they do not seek pertinent information, and an unprecedented infringement on the separation of powers.”
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) voiced support for moving forward with contempt proceedings against Bill Clinton once the measure advances out of committee.
“I would support that,” Johnson said Tuesday. “I think clearly, he’s defied a subpoena of Congress. I’m not sure what the other remedy would be … It’s a contempt. It shows contempt for Congress, and he’s not spoken to that issue to any extent. And I think the people are owed answers.”
If approved by the Oversight Committee, the contempt resolutions would move to the House floor for consideration, escalating the ongoing dispute between congressional investigators and the former first family over their participation in the Epstein probe.

Please make this make sense. Neither party can be right on the issue of testifying in person before Congress – either Congress can force them to appear before it to answer questions regarding legal items of US Constitutional merit, or the Clintons are correct, they don’t have to for a valid, US Constitutionally vetted reason.
Can’t be both.
Oh sure, the Clinton’s track record on truth should leave no doubt.
It is my understanding that both Bill and Hillary wer frequent flyers on the “Lalita Express ” owned by Epstein.
STOP the sensationalism in your headlines for the click bait value. The Clintons are untouchable. They own and. Control much of the DOJ and FBI and the powerbrokers within our government. Bondi has neither the willpower or ambition to hold them accountable. Pirro would but Bondi is calling the shots here and just because Navarro and Bannon went to prison for the exact same thing Bondi doesn’t have the guts to take on the Clinton machine.
DO IT!!!!!!!!!!!
This might be the first time that the Clintons have ever had to face consequences for their bad behavior.
