New York Republican Gubernatorial Candidate Plans to Declare Crisis on Day One if Elected

-

Rep. Lee Zeldin says if he becomes New York's next governor, he will declare a emergency for the state and immediately suspend cashless bail laws.

Zeldin, who has made crime a top priority throughout his campaign, says he wants to accomplish as much as he can in his “first 100 minutes” if elected.

“I'm going to suspend New York's cashless bail laws and some other pro-criminal laws that have been passed, force the legislature to come to the table to negotiate an improvement, because we have to take back our streets,” Zeldin told ' Maria Bartiromo. “We need law-abiding New Yorkers back in control of New York streets instead of criminals, and there are people in charge right now, from Kathy Hochul to the Democrats controlling the state legislature, who feel like they haven't passed enough pro-criminal laws.”

In 2019, the Empire State's Legislature passed a law banning setting bail for most misdemeanor and non-violent felony charges.

Police-reported murders and aggravated assaults in New York rose about 4.4% and 9.5%, respectively between 2020 and 2021, according to data collected by the State Division of Criminal Justice Services.

According to The Daily Caller, Zeldin also plans to remove Manhattan District Attorney from office “for his refusal to enforce the law.” Bragg, who is also investigating former President Trump, said in January that his office would not pursue prison sentences for many offenses including resisting arrest.

Last week, two men were shot outside of the New York congressman's home while his teenage daughters were inside.

As American Liberty News reported at the time:

“After my daughters heard the gunshots and the screaming, they ran upstairs, locked themselves in the bathroom and immediately called 911. They acted very swiftly and smartly every step of the way and Diana and I are extremely proud of them.

“The two individuals who were shot were laying down under my front porch and the bushes in front of our porch. My understanding is that they have been transported to area hospitals. I do not know their identities.

“My daughters are shaken, but ok. Like so many New Yorkers, crime has literally made its way to our front door. My family is grateful to all who have reached out and we will provide another update when we can.”

Zeldin is challenging New York's incumbent Governor this November. Election forecasters with RealClearPolitics regard the race as a “Democrat hold” but Zeldin has seen the gap tighten in recent weeks.

A new poll commissioned by Trafalgar Group shows Republican candidates within striking distance of two of the state's most prominent Democrats — including Hochul.

According to a recent survey of 1,000 likely voters in New York, Zeldin is only 2 percentage points behind Hochul. The liberal governor currently leads Zeldin 45% to 43% with 10% of voters undecided. (RELATED: New Poll Shows New York Democrats in Deep Trouble)

  1. I have seen a couple of post where the poster claims NYC and the state have a lower crime rate the any major red state and city. As long as the poisonous press is allowed to cover up what is truly going on the murderous rates will continue. This is our chance to rid our country of Democrat governments, statewide and nationally. If we don’t, then look only to your selves people

  2. For Lee Zeldin’s 2nd crisis to handle is to not comply with the CDC Childhood Immunization Schedule for COVID clot shots. Before 100 days.
