Trump CFO Pleads Guilty – Will Testify Against Trump Companies

-

Allen Weisselberg has pled guilty to running a tax evasion scheme while he was the chief financial officer of the .

Weisselberg pled guilty to all 15 charges and will serve five months in prison after reaching a plea deal that will require him to testify against the Trump Organization.

NPR reported from the courtroom in Lower Manhattan:

Weisselberg's demeanor was calm as the judge ran him through the details of his guilty plea, saying little else besides, “Yes, your honor,” and, “No, your honor.” He wore a dark suit and a surgical face mask, and was flanked by his lawyers.

Afterward, Weisselberg's attorney Nicholas Gravante emailed a statement saying his client had made a difficult decision. “Rather than risk the possibility of 15 years in prison, he has agreed to serve 100 days. We are glad to have this behind him.” (He clarified that he expects Weisselberg to ultimately serve less time in jail than five months.)

The Manhattan District Attorney, , says he expects Weisselberg to provide “invaluable” testimony against the Trump family business.

Weisselberg will be formally sentenced after the trial of the Trump Organization, scheduled for this fall. Judge Juan Merchan warned Weisselberg that if he does not truthfully testify at the trial, the plea agreement will be voided, and he could face years in prison.

The Trump Organization may be required to pay a fine if it is found guilty of illegal business practices, but no one will go to jail.

Weisselberg begin working for Fred Trump in 1973 before working his way up the corporate ladder at the Trump Organization. The decision to accept a plea deal puts him at odds with the Trump family, to whom he's been fiercely loyal for nearly 50 years.

  1. Another Paid for stooge to testify against the Trumps ! … This time it is a reduced prison sentence for LYING !

  2. Just another illegal tactic to smear trump by all means necessary. It goes to show after being the most investigated person in history and found clean; Powers that be will use your testimony as leverage to keep power out of America’s hands

  3. So the so called justice can threaten you with longer sentence but get what they want by not going forward with formal fact finding allowed within the law. This should not be allowed because of political ramifications but the exact opposite occurs when real documented crimes are spelled out by criminal’s own laptop. NOTHING TO SEE HERE

  4. Years in jail if you don’t testify against Trump. Sounds like intimidation to me either say what we want or it’s a long sentence for you

  5. Oh, the guy that broke laws wants to flip on Trump? What possible reason could he have to want to do that? Wait! Maybe it’s to get a lighter sentence.. that would seem like good reasoning as to why he might want to blame somebody else.

  6. So we’re supposed to believe this guy who struck a deal with a prosecutor to testify against his former boss to get a easier sentence. Yeah right!

  7. If he doesn’t give the answers the prosecutor wants, the deal is off and he goes to prison for years…. Sounds to me like he is going to be testifying “under duress.”. I would love to see Weisselberg answer the questions at trial in such a way that he clears the Trump Organization of wrongdoing and turns the prosecution on end. That would be “poetic justice.”

  8. So Weasels are everywhere!!! Trump is faaar too trusting! In my personal experience, when people are basically trustworthy, they tend to believe others are the same. When I was young, I was burned many times, before I caught on!
