Amsterdam, Netherlands — Middle Eastern and North African groups involved in recent unrest returned to the streets of Amsterdam on Monday night, sparking renewed violence and raising alarms among Dutch authorities. The demonstrators blocked roads, smashed windows and set trams ablaze, shouting slurs, including “Kanker Joden,” a derogatory chant that translates to “Cancer Jews.” The incidents took place in an area that carries the painful legacy of the Holocaust, where Jews like Anne Frank once hid from Nazi forces.

The violence follows riots that erupted last week after a match involving Israel’s Maccabi Tel Aviv F.C., during which Jewish soccer fans became targets of violent attacks. It has fueled concerns over growing antisemitic sentiment in Amsterdam, which the Dutch intelligence services caution may continue based on ongoing social media activity.
Tensions Sparked by Online Activity and Protest Calls
According to Israeli officials, pro-Palestinian and Islamist sentiment surged on Dutch social media channels on Nov. 7, one day before the first attacks. Israeli intelligence agency Mossad detected the increase and promptly notified Dutch security forces. Despite this warning, large crowds gathered outside the stadium, and many Arab members within local law enforcement reportedly allowed agitators to target Jewish attendees, undermining police efforts to maintain order.
Some Jewish fans sought refuge in nearby hotels and businesses, as willing police—though outnumbered—worked to control the escalating violence.
Diplomatic and Security Responses
The Israeli Defense Force has since issued a travel advisory, banning service members from visiting the Netherlands until further notice. In response, Israeli Minister of Foreign Affairs Gideon Sa’ar engaged in discussions with the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security. Both governments have agreed to cooperate on collecting testimonies and preserving evidence to prosecute those responsible for the violence.
Border Security and Rising Radicalism in the Netherlands
Amid these tensions, the Netherlands plans to implement land border controls starting Dec. 9 to address the influx of illegal migrants.

Observers attribute some of the unrest to radicalized segments of the youth, particularly those engaged in pro-Palestinian and Islamist groups. A recent recruitment video by an Islamist youth organization has highlighted the extent of this radicalization, prompting increasing scrutiny from Dutch authorities.

Heightened Security Measures Expected
Dutch authorities are reportedly on high alert, anticipating further unrest. Enhanced security measures may be deployed in Amsterdam and around key Jewish sites to prevent a resurgence of violence.

If indeed these rioters are foreign nations, then round them up, detain them and deport them back to where they came from. Europe use to be a nice place to go, it is almost lost as these groups are destroying it.
