Army Secretary Dan Driscoll said he has no plans to resign, pushing back on speculation about his future following reported tensions with Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.

“Serving under President Trump has been the honor of a lifetime, and I remain laser-focused on providing America with the strongest land fighting force the world has ever seen,” Driscoll said in a statement to The Hill. “I have no plans to depart or resign as Secretary of the Army.”

Driscoll’s remarks come amid reports that some White House officials have discussed his standing in the role, which he has held since February of last year. The speculation follows Hegseth’s decision to remove Army Chief of Staff Gen. Randy George, a senior military leader seen as close to Driscoll. The two officials have clashed on several issues, including the promotion of military officers. Hegseth also recently reversed the Army’s suspension of a helicopter crew that flew near musician Kid Rock’s Tennessee estate and ended the service’s investigation into the incident.

Driscoll, a former Army officer who deployed to Iraq, is also a close friend of Vice President JD Vance.

Asked about Driscoll’s position, the White House voiced support for both leaders.

“President Trump has effectively restored a focus on readiness and lethality across our military with the help of leaders like Secretary Hegseth and Secretary Driscoll,” White House spokesperson Anna Kelly said.

Kelly also pointed to the administration’s recent military operation against Iran.

“The extraordinary talent of the United States Army and entire Department of War were on full display throughout Operation Epic Fury, as all of our military objectives were met and Iran’s capabilities were diminished,” she said.

Trump has previously praised Driscoll’s work on drone capabilities, while also recently backing Hegseth.

“All I can say is that he was treated very unfairly,” Trump said of Hegseth. “Now those same people that fought against him are calling me up saying what a great choice he was.”

This smells more like a news media hit job than in fighting from the war department. Stop listening to the democrat party’s news media hit pieces!
