As Fox News reports:

President Biden on Thursday authorized the Pentagon to tap up to 3,000 reservists for deployment to Europe to augment U.S. troops there in support of Operation Atlantic Resolve.

Biden's order authorizes the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of Homeland Security to send active duty units and individual members who are assigned to a unit of the Selected Reserve or any member of the Individual Ready Reserve.

The order comes on the heels of the president's five-day trip to Europe, which wound through the U.K., Lithuania and Finland. The trip was meant to demonstrate the force of the international coalition against Russia's invasion of Ukraine. And Biden appeared confident he had accomplished that mission, proclaiming that he and other leaders showed the military alliance “more united than ever.”

At NATO's annual summit, world leaders reaffirmed their commitment to Ukrainian sovereignty but wouldn't discuss a timeline for when Ukraine could join the military alliance.

Thursday's announcement follows the controversial decision by the to provide Ukraine with cluster munitions with U.S. artillery stockpiles “dangerously low.” (RELATED: Russia Ramps Up Use Of Very Cheap, Devastatingly Effective Weapon)

  1. Think I saw this movie. Just some advisors initially to aid the French in Indo China and then more to help the non-Communist Vietnamese and then a Ukraine version of the Gulf of Tonkin incident not far behind? Meanwhile, our ammo etc. is being drawn down, 18 of our subs are in dry dock and the Chinese are growing ever more bellicose. Prescription for disaster.
