Democrats’ ‘Election Interference’ Against Trump Heats Up In NYC

-

ANALYSIS – It really is absolute nonsense. has become the first former U.S. president to face a criminal trial. And for this, the Democrats chose a doozy.

The case idiotically involves alleged hush money paid to porn star Stephanie Clifford (aka Stormy Daniels) that carries major political and legal ramifications.

and his supporters have repeatedly called this case, as well as the others, manufactured and politicized “lawfare” against the former president. And they are correct. (RELATED: Trump Violated Gag Order, Say Prosecutors)

This case against Trump has been relentlessly prosecuted by leftist hack, and Soros-funded, Manhattan DA, .

The trial will feature allegations that Trump falsified business records while compensating one of his lawyers, , for burying stories about extramarital affairs that arose during the 2016 presidential race.

As The Hill reported:

Starting today, former President Trump will leave the presidential campaign trail to stand trial in Manhattan on 34 criminal charges. Trump has relentlessly tried to delay the trial but ran out of stops. Today's trial marks the first time that a former or current U.S. president has faced a criminal trial.

The case: Trump is accused of falsifying business records related to reimbursements for his then-fixer Michael Cohen.

What prosecutors allege: In 2016, Cohen paid porn actor Stormy Daniels $130,000 in 2016 to keep her alleged sexual encounter with Trump quiet to avoid a political scandal right before the election. Trump then reimbursed Cohen. Trump has pleaded not guilty.

How serious are the charges?: Most legal experts agree that of Trump's four pending criminal cases, this case is the least serious. If convicted, the charges have a maximum jail time sentence of 1 ½ years to four years. But Trump would be a first-time offender, so he could be sentenced to no jail time.

More importantly, The Hill adds – sending a hush money payment isn't illegal, though falsifying business records to cover it up, is. The problem with that remains that no one has ever been criminally prosecuted for this nonsense.

Still, the prospect of Trump becoming a convicted felon throws an unprecedented wild card into an already unpredictable November 5 election. (RELATED: Watch: Popular Celebrity Makes Big Change After 2020 Biden Endorsement)

The former president has angrily blasted the proceedings – and reportedly even nodded off – in a New York courthouse as the first day of his historic trial kicked off.

Australian news site, News.com.aureported:

As he walked into the Manhattan courtroom, the Republican candidate [Trump] railed at the proceedings and said the court case was “nonsense” and an “outrage”.

“This is an assault on America, nothing like this has ever happened before, there's never been anything like it.”

“Every legal scholar said this case is nonsense, it should have never been brought.”

Along with the civil cases, this is intended as “election interference” to not just sway the upcoming rematch with Joe against Trump but to impede Trump's ability to campaign. The charges threaten Trump's campaign schedule as he faces the general election. (RELATED: Biden Ridicules Trump's Financial Difficulties)

Being a criminal trial, Trump must attend every day the court is in session.

Trump's other three criminal cases – centered on his alleged hoarding of top-secret documents in after he left the and his alleged involvement in attempts to overturn the 2020 election – all face multiple delays.

Trump's current trial is the culmination of a case that has been hotly contested since it was unveiled last spring. After months of legal machinations, it seems to be on track to actually begin.

Jury selection started on Monday. Testimony is expected to last weeks, amid a level of scrutiny that some have likened to the O.J. Simpson trial three decades ago.
