FBI May Have Used Jan. 6 to Spy on Bank Transactions of Everyone in DC Area

-

Federal agents investigating the January 6, 2021 riot at the U.S. Capitol may have accessed the records of every person who used a debit or credit card on that day in the D.C. area.

If true, it would seem to violate the U.S. Constitution's prohibition on surveillance of an American without probable cause and give the access to the private bank transactions of federal judges and members of , along with millions of residents who had no involvement in, or knowledge of, the incident. The revelation comes in court filings by the non-profit law firm , which is appealing a U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia ruling allowing the FBI to withhold records of communication between the FBI and several financial institutions about the reported transfer of financial transaction records of people in D.C., Maryland and on January 5 and January 6, 2021.

“We want the details on what looks to be an unprecedented abuse of the financial privacy of countless innocent Americans by big banks and the FBI,” stated Judicial Watch President . “The FBI's cover-up should be rejected, and the records made public.”

Judicial Watch, responding to reports of the mass spying, sued for “all records of communication between the FBI and any financial institution, including but not limited to Bank of America, Citibank, Chase Manhattan Bank, Discover, and/or American Express, in which the FBI sought transaction data for those financial institutions' debit and credit card account holders who made purchases in Washington, D.C., Maryland and/or Virginia on January 5, 2021, and/or January 6, 2021.”

In its appeal, Judicial Watch raises the alarm “on what appears to be an unprecedented abuse of the financial privacy of thousands of Americans.”

“Substantial and compelling evidence demonstrates that the FBI sought and received records from financial institutions of anyone who used a credit card or engaged in other transactions in the Washington, D.C. area on January 5 or 6, 2021. This would include many thousands of persons living in the Washington, D.C. area, including possibly members of this Court,” the appeal states. The transaction records appear to have been used in multiple prosecutions of accused January 6 rioters, with credit and debit card transactions used by prosecutors to prove defendants were in the D.C. area at the time.

  1. Under Wray the FBI has always been crooked but that doesn’t excuse the agents who participated in his criminal activities.

  2. I keep hearing that the “rank and file” are good and honest. Then where are all the good and honest whistleblowers. This is illegal and egregious. The FBI and DOJ are corrupt beyond repair.

  3. Welcome to the stark reality of a constitutional republic without
equality or consent. It is not a democracy wherein you have equal
immunity, powers, privileges, or protections. It has no equality in
creating, interpreting, or implementing of common sense in laws.🍃
A constitutional republic is a corporation. A corporation is a
legal entity that is separate and distinct from its owners.
A constitutional republic is formed without a plebescite.
Therefore a constitututional republic owns you, so
a constitutional republic can conscript any citizen for
for the supposed greater good of the republic without
the consent of the governed by a referendum.
Slaves do not get a vote on the issues ruling their lives.

    • It depends on the constitution of that republic. Your simplified generalization is a worst case scenario dependent upon specific conditions within a particular constiturional construct. It is socialist propaganda that a Constitutional Republic is worse than a Democracy. A pure Democracy can be far worse, where the inferred rights of anyone are at risk at any moment from the current whims of the mob, on the assumption that the majority will always be correct. In a reality where govt influenced media so easily sways the moods of the mob, what’s “correct” is merely a govt influenced delusion that is subjective. A Democracy is much more inclined to build a bloated tyranical authoritarian govt set on manipulating the subjectivity of the mob over individual freedoms. “Slaves do not get a vote on the issues ruling their lives”. That’s false when the construct of the republic’s constitution meticulously empowers “the slaves” with selecting who represents them in their congress and interests at both state and federal levels. In the USA, the senior house of Congress is the senate, where each state is represented equally, regardless of geographic size or population. We are a Constitutional Republic of States, where the states are intended to have authority over federal govt and the construct and content of the federal Constitution, not the other way around. Where the citizens of each state are empowered at the state and local levels to select people from their ranks to represent them and their interests. Democracy is far more unstable, authoritarian and threatening to individual, local and state freedoms than most Constitutional Republics.

  4. If you can’t see the work of the dem-o-rats in the Jan. 6th debacle, then you’re blind!!! National Guard units were offered, but turned down by the dem-o-rats! The FBI had informants telling them this would happen, they did nothing but encourage the assembly to riot!!!

  5. The DOJ and FBI are totally corrupt and if you have any interactions with them the best thing is to say nothing and get a lawyer and there is no level to which they will not stoop to harass you. No warrant no information without a lawyer. Same goes for ATF, IRS, Homeland Security, etc. Hold them to the Constitution and make them prove you did something wrong. They routinely violate your 1st, 2nd and 4th amendment rights. Funny how we didn’t have any of this same level of scrutiny when blue city riots lasted months and notable Democrats were caught on video justifying and inciting (in some cases) these people to insurrection (insurrection is defined as violence against authority or government). I wonder how they missed attacks on police, police stations and local, state and federal buildings? Seems to me they had a mental lapse when those things occurred.

  6. American Liberty must be a misnomer as they just censored a previous comment that was in essence no different then other comments on here. There was no profanity or language that would have been offensive. Go figure?
