At least one Republican has concerns following the vote to remove Ilhan Omar from the Foreign Affairs Committee.
Ultimately, Rep. Matt Gaetz, R-Fla., joined his colleagues to punish Omar. But the decision has left him anxious about the future.
“I voted with the majority on that matter, but I can’t say that it was the best feeling in the world to look at speech as some sort of threshold for someone’s participation in the political process,” Gaetz said.
The remarks came on Gaetz’s podcast, “Firebrand.” He explained that the decision to oust Omar was made easier by her vote to strip Reps. Marjorie Taylor Greene and Paul Gosar of their committee assignments.
Still, he cautioned that no one should be surprised if Republicans — especially himself — are punished for their speech when Democrats regain control of the chamber.
The congressman did express hope that the spat of committee removal punishments would end with Omar, as Mediaite noted:
“And my hope is that this is the end of it. So while Ilhan Omar says things that I find detestable that I totally disagree with, I didn’t vote against her because of her speech. I voted against her because she engaged in this effort to de-platform my friends, Paul Gosar and Marjorie Taylor Greene,” Gaetz said.
“And this has to end. And I thought this was the only way to make it end. And actually, there’ve been some pretty productive behind the scenes discussions with Kevin McCarthy, that I’ve had conversations between Hakeem Jeffries and Kevin McCarthy, where we recognize that this activity of stripping other sides from committees, is really beneath the dignity of the institution,” he added.

How fast republicans forget after they are elected, re-elected, not respecting the Constitution of the U.S. or their constituents that trusted them to do the job they were elected to do.

What is wrong with the good people of MN to elect and re-allect an evil person like her who seems to hate everything about America and all of its citizens. All of the members of the “Squad” are evil and shou;d be voted out of congress or impeached – take your pick and just get them out of there and maybe most of them will go where they are wanted.
The Democratic party has spent many years I mean decades setting these situations up. You bring in mass numbers of aliens from questionable places and set them up in a concentrated area so that they have the numbers to do this, and you have put another rung on you latter of destruction that the Dems are building to destroy America.. The foreign affairs committee is part of our “face to the world”; a biased hate spewing person is NOT a good image for that. Further she inflames relations with allies with her rants. You didn’t kick her out of Congress, just blocked her from a committee for which she is clearly unsuited.
There are only 2 ways to judge a person and they are by their words and actions. And if they coincide with each other you are a fool if you don’t pay great head. If you ignore these 2 factors and make a judgement on your feelings you are a also a fool.
Did Hakeem Jeffries also vote along with Nancy to rid the committee of Rep. Green and Gosar. Nuff SAID !!!

Mr. Gaetz obviously doesn’t remember when Comrade Pelosi spewed that politics is a dirty game of which the democrats as ideologists use to its’ fullest. He is quite naive or smitten with Ilhan to think this part of the game of politics can be tamed. You are all only colleagues in word only!
