America’s top diplomat is suspending his high-stakes visit to China after a suspected surveillance balloon was discovered loitering above nuclear missile silos in Montana.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s trip to Beijing hoped to stabilize U.S.-Chinese relations at a time when a future conflict between the two nations seems more likely than not.
Per Fox News:
Blinken was to travel to Beijing this weekend to discuss the Russia-Ukraine war with Chinese officials and meet with President Xi, White House National Security Coordinator for Strategic Communications John Kirby said.
Top Republicans on the House Foreign Affairs Committee demanded that Blinken confront Xi over the spy balloon during his trip, calling it an “unacceptable” violation of U.S. airspace and American sovereignty.
Other Republicans went further, with Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., saying, “Secretary Blinken should cancel his trip to China.”
“And President Biden must answer why he has not secured U.S. airspace,” Cotton added.
In a statement released Friday morning, China’s Foreign Ministry claimed the airship is a civilian weather balloon blown off course by prevailing winds.

North American Aerospace Defense Command (NORAD) continues to monitor the ballon. Officials will not say where it is now.
The startling revelation sparked a furious reaction from lawmakers in both parties. Some, including officials with the Montana Republican Party, are calling for a Pentagon shootdown.

First of all — there is NO stablizing relations with a communist country that is determined to rule the world. Secondly — there are so many of our so-called leadership that have questionable dealings and interests with China that they would secretly(more so than the present) continue those activities whether illegal or not.
