ANALYSIS – Liar, liar, leftist pants on fire! GOP attacks on Kamala Harris’ extreme left-wing record have been so successful that Harris is racing to flip-flop on everything she used to say she believes.
However, the shameless backtracking by the disastrous vice president, and recently imposed Democratic presidential nominee, have then opened her up to more attacks and tested her pitch to voters as a truth-teller.
Not only is she a far-left radical. She is a far-left radical liar. She will say anything to get elected. You just can’t trust her.
Sadly, with her essentially being dropped into the campaign without the thorough vetting of a Democrat primary, she is extremely vulnerable on a range of issues, including character.
This is why Republicans must forcefully make the case.
During two decades in elected office and now seeking the presidency for the second time, Harris has not hesitated to stake out expedient and contrasting positions.
On matters that she has framed as moral issues – the death penalty, fracking, gun control and marijuana – Harris has made policy shifts.
“She is vulnerable to the charge of flip-flopping, no question about that,” said John Pitney, a professor of political science at Claremont McKenna College in California, who worked as a Republican congressional and political aide in the 1980s.
During a 2004 inauguration speech after she was elected San Francisco’s district attorney, Harris vowed to “never charge the death penalty.”
Four years later, after launching her campaign for California attorney general, Harris said she would “enforce the death penalty as the law dictates.”
In 2010, when she was running to become California’s top law enforcement official, she opposed allowing marijuana sales for recreational use. But in 2019, when she was running for president, she joked about having smoked the drug. “I did inhale,” she quipped during a radio interview.
The Washington Examiner reported on July 30:
According to the New York Times, just this week, the Harris campaign, but not Harris herself, said she no longer supports a ban on fracking, no longer supports abolishing Immigration and Customs Enforcement, no longer supports mandatory gun buybacks, and no longer supports banning private health insurance.
When asked to comment on the flurry of flip-flops, Harris campaign spokesman Brian Fallon said, “Her years spent in law enforcement and her record in the Biden-Harris administration defy Trump’s attempts to define her through lies.”
The problem is that everything Republicans are saying about Harris’s record is true. She is on tape, multiple times, calling for a fracking ban. Same with mandatory gun buybacks and banning private health insurance. She even endorsed Sen. Bernie Sanders’s (I-VT) Medicare for All bill, going as far as to thank him for his leadership on the matter.
And on “Abolish ICE,” Harris has a strong, established track record of backing legislation that defunds immigration law enforcement in favor of the very nonprofit groups that encourage and facilitate illegal immigration. In 2018, she encouraged her fellow senators to reject a Trump administration request for additional funding for new Border Patrol agents and ICE detention beds. And in 2019, she introduced legislation that would have taken $220 million from ICE and given it to nonprofit groups that aid illegal immigrants.
Beyond those key issues, as the Examiner noted, Harris needs to come clean on some other major problems America is extremely worried about, such as illegal immigration.
Harris openly supported providing taxpayer-funded “free healthcare” for illegal immigrants. Does she still favor that outrageous proposal? We don’t know.
She has also supported the decriminalization of illegal border crossings and backed sanctuary city laws for illegal immigrants.
In addition, Harris has supported banning cash bail, banning plastic straws and banning offshore drilling.
These are all dangerously radical liberal positions. The country needs to know why she supported them and if she has flip-flopped, why?

If not for “lies” the Queen of Sleaze would have nothing to say at all. Pre 2020 she could not beat anybody in the presidential preference primary. Her numbers were so bad she had to withdraw from the competition. She was so pathetically unqualified even old Willy Brown could not help her.
