Tensions between Israel and Iran have escalated following a large-scale ballistic missile attack on Tuesday. Israeli officials have indicated plans for a significant retaliation, with potential targets including Iran’s oil industry, air defense systems and other strategic sites. Assassination strikes against key Iranian figures are also being considered. Israeli authorities further warned that if Iran responds to their strikes, all options are on the table, including targeting Iranian nuclear facilities.

The IRGC justified Tuesday’s missile attack by pointing to the recent deaths of terror leaders from Hamas, Hezbollah and its own ranks. Among those killed were Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh, Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah and IRGC Deputy Commander of Operations Gen. Abbas Nilforoushan.
Amid the intensifying conflict, a mass shooting took place in Jaffa, a suburb of Tel Aviv, with Israeli authorities classifying the incident as an act of terrorism. The attack coincided with the firing of nearly 200 missiles into Israel.
In related developments, Iranian nationals linked to the IRGC have been indicted for orchestrating a “hack-and-leak” operation aimed at influencing the 2024 U.S. presidential election.
Reflecting on the growing instability in the Middle East, Ohio Senator J.D. Vance criticized the Biden-Harris administration during Tuesday night’s presidential debate, accusing it of inaction in the face of catastrophe.
