Arizona Democratic Sen. Ruben Gallego is launching an effort to challenge a new Trump Administration immigration policy that could require many green card applicants to leave the United States and complete the process abroad.

According to a report from The Hill, Gallego is not only seeking to overturn the policy itself but is also pursuing a procedural strategy that could make it easier for Congress to reverse the change.

The dispute revolves around a recent U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) policy affecting how certain immigrants obtain lawful permanent residency.

PENTAGON WOKE WATCH

GOOD, BUT SHOULD LET IT ALL DIE (DEI) – Pentagon salaries for diversity, equity, inclusion staff capped at $31K under Cotton, Banks bill. A new bill being pushed by Sen. Tom Cotton and Rep. Jim Banks would cap the salaries of any Pentagon employees working on diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI – better known as DIE) initiatives at $31,000.

WORSE THAN ORIGINALLY THOUGHT – MORE ‘MOMMY AND ME’ TIME FOR EVERYONE! – Army’s long-awaited parental leave policy bars local denials. The Army rolled out its tardy parental leave policy Tuesday, expanding maternity leave and sharply increasing the benefit for ‘non-birth parents’ (THEY ARE FATHERS!) as well.

HIDING NEW PARENTAL LEAVE INFORMATION FROM AMERICANS – The latest document the military is hiding behind handling rules: parental leave. By the end of January, the Pentagon was due to brief Congress on whether the military has been abusing a set of document rules, a categorization known as Controlled Unclassified Information, or CUI, to shield non sensitive information from public scrutiny.

WHAT ABOUT OUR HUMAN SUBMARINERS’ PAIN AND SUFFERING? – Navy ends ‘gruesome’ testing on sheep after PETA protests. An animal rights group says that it has successfully lobbied the Navy to end a pair of studies that involved subjecting sheep to conditions that simulated surfacing quickly from a great depth, causing them pain and sometimes leaving the animals paralyzed or dead.

POLITICS

GREAT – PUSH BACK ON THESE CAPRICIOUS, UNCONSTITUTIONAL CHANGES – Veterans sue Biden Justice Dept. over pistol brace restrictions. Authorities contend the accessory allows people to make handguns more lethal. Plaintiffs say the rule violates the Second Amendment.

LET’S MAKE SOME NOISE – Armed Services panel finalizes roster with three new GOP senators. Senate Republicans on Wednesday announced their slate of committee assignments, placing three new members on the Armed Services Committee. The committee will consist of 13 Democrats and 12 Republicans, though the Democratic roster remains unchanged.

NATIONAL SECURITY

SAYS BIDEN’S PERSONAL LAWYER – BUT PLENTY OF TIME TO MOVE OR DESTROY – FBI finds no classified documents at Biden’s Delaware vacation home. The FBI belatedly completed a search of President Joe Biden’s Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, home on Wednesday and found no documents with classified markings, ‘according to Biden’s personal lawyer.’

MORE OF THE SAME? WASTE, FRAUD AND ABUSE – New institute will study how the Defense Department manages itself. To “compete on a global stage,” DOD must get a handle on its management practices, Deputy Defense Secretary says.

GET IT ALL IN THE ORIGINAL BUDGET – Cut down defense spending ‘wish lists,’ lawmakers tell Pentagon. Influential lawmakers from both parties urged the Defense secretary in a letter Tuesday to curtail the department’s submission to Congress of “unfunded priorities lists” — annual requests for billions of dollars in military spending above White House budget proposals.

HOMELAND SECURITY

HE WAS WRONG AND SHOULD DO TIME – BUT DO SIMILAR BLM RIOTERS WHO ATTACKED COPS GET 5 YEARS? – Marine Corps veteran sentenced to 5 years in prison for assaulting police on Jan. 6. FINALLY – US opens embassy in Solomon Islands to counter China. The United States opened an embassy in the Solomon Islands on Thursday in its latest move to counter China’s push into the Pacific.

FACING CHINA – Austin in Philippines to discuss larger US military presence. Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin is in the Philippines for talks on deploying larger numbers of U.S. forces and weapons in more Philippine military camps.

A REAL THREAT – Air Force opposes Chinese company’s corn plant for North Dakota. Chinese company Fufeng Group’s planned $700 million facility would be 12 miles from Grand Forks Air Force Base.

RUSSIA THREAT

US accuses Russia of endangering nuclear arms control treaty. Russia’s refusal to allow the resumption of on-the-ground inspections is endangering the New START nuclear treaty and U.S.-Russian arms control overall, the Biden administration charged.

UKRAINE WAR

END NATO SUPPORT FOR UKRAINE? – The argument for why the West should change course on Ukraine. A policy report from the influential RAND Corporation urges the United States to do more to avoid a “long war” in Ukraine.

Putin says military must stop Ukrainian shelling of Russian regions. President Vladimir Putin said on Wednesday that Russia’s military must stop the shelling of Russian regions from Ukrainian territory, which he said had left many people homeless or without power.

MORE AND MORE – US expected to send Ukraine longer-range smart bombs in next aid package. The weapon is a precision-guided bomb with a range of 94 miles.

Ukraine plans to spend $540 million on drones this year. Ukraine plans to spend about 20 billion hryvnia (U.S. $540 million) on new drones this year, according to the country’s defense minister.

UMMM – JUST SAY THE FRENCH DID IT – US partner forces stop boat smuggling assault rifles, anti-tank missiles from Iran to Yemen. The U.S. partner naval forces last month seized more than 3,000 assault rifles and 23 advanced anti-tank guided missiles on the way from Iran to Yemen, the Pentagon revealed.

Too bad the American people no longer have any trust in the activities of the DOJ, the FBI or the Biden Crime family. At this point in time, they could all swear that it gets dark when the sun goes down and we would all still think they were lying. They have completely destroyed themselves by their lies and corrupt activities.

    Joe

The Pentagon DOD is on the wrong path with it’s wokeness in our military, what kind of crap is this anyway. We need hardcore soldiers to win wars, not light weight, mentally deficient, volunteers that can’t cut the muster.Rehire all that were pushed out because they didn;t take the poison shots. They cost big money to train, to be pushed out because of a unconstitutional, order by arrogant, delusional, demented, incompetent, fake, phony, puppet, out of touch with reality. The American people have no trust in this government at all, with all the lying, and propaganda bs, they feed us every day.Go woke,we go broke, and will be .annilated.

    RSM4

The salary limits they are focused on are just for DoD civilian employees.
It is actually much worse. DoD has a full staff office working on DEI, including military members.

Just after the Pentagon 60 day stand down to “root out extremism,” they announced that going forward, the Department of Defense Office for Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion will be an integral part of force structure and mission planning. Yep. Gotta make certain that units only deploy with the approved mix of races and self-identified genders.  Oh, and planning must be adjusted to avoid offending the sensibilities of minority, Muslim and LGBTQ+++ service members.
