Actress and activist Cynthia Nixon revealed this week that her transgender child, Seph Mozes, is participating in an ongoing hunger strike in Chicago to show solidarity with Gaza and protest U.S. military support for Israel. Nixon made the announcement in an interview with Newsweek, highlighting that Mozes is an “observant Jew” and a supporter of Jewish Voices for Peace, a left-wing, anti-Zionist organization.
Mozes, born Samantha Mozes, graduated from the University of Chicago and has become increasingly involved in progressive causes. According to Nixon, the decision to join the hunger strike was partially inspired by their grandparents, Holocaust survivors on their father’s side.
The hunger strike is part of a growing movement on American college campuses and among activist circles pushing for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza and an end to American aid to Israel. Nixon herself participated in a similar protest outside the White House in November 2023, where she joined other public figures and activists in calling for President Biden to reverse his administration’s military support for the Israeli government.
Jewish Voices for Peace, the group Mozes supports, has long been a controversial fixture in American activism. The group openly opposes Zionism, Israel’s existence as a Jewish state, and U.S. support for the Israeli military. Though it claims to be rooted in Jewish tradition, its alignment with groups that sympathize with Hamas and its rhetoric accusing Israel of genocide have drawn condemnation from mainstream Jewish organizations.
Nixon described her “son” as “a smart person with his ear to the ground,” insisting that they don’t expect to end the war, but wants “to do everything he can.”
University of Chicago professor Eman Abdelhadi confirmed that the hunger strike began Monday and would continue indefinitely. Local news outlets in Chicago have corroborated the report.
Nixon, best known for her role as Miranda Hobbes in Sex and the City, has increasingly shifted to high-profile political activism. She ran an unsuccessful primary campaign against then-New York Governor Andrew Cuomo in 2018 and has since become a vocal supporter of far-left causes, including transgender activism and Palestinian advocacy.
She participated in a five-day hunger strike in late 2023 calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, though she reportedly only fasted for two of the five days.
The activism underscores a growing ideological divide in American politics, particularly among younger progressives and the party establishment. While many voters continue to back the U.S.-Israel alliance, younger factions are increasingly critical of the relationship.

At least this type of “protest” is a personal choice that does not harm others. If someone wants to go on a hunger strike, I say go for it.
Quite frankly…who gives a rat’s butt what some spoiled entitled rich brat thinks or does. This is not news…it’s pandering!
Tell your spoiled brat kid that there is more at stake than her

The above is the story lede … All this does is create the assumption that the individual may have a dual personality psychosis. Unfortunately, the article fails to clarify this – “…the hunger strike was partially inspired by their grandparents, Holocaust survivors on their father’s side.”
Entering into a hunger strike does not reveal someone who is trying “to do everything he can.” Quite the contrary.
Having served in the US Military and as a civilian contractor in the Middle East in amongst probably the largest group of Morons on this planet that exists I can honestly state the only redeeming place in the Middle East is Israel. The history of the entire area going back ten thousand years is a fascinating subject that is not a simple study as some assume it is. The history of Palestine is long and complex, spanning millennia and involving numerous civilizations, empires, and peoples. As a degreed Historian who is also holds dual MEs in aerospace engineering, I deal in facts not opinion, I have to caveat any answer I give as to who a particular area of land belonged to with the question of “WHEN?”
I could give a damn. Starve!
It figures. The headline screams a “child” is on a hunger strike. A university grad is not a child. But they gotta have a tear jerking headline. Obviously, the person has an “ear to the ground” in an echo chamber.
Another irrelevant person.
