Arizona Governor Katie Hobbs stated in a Monday interview that she will resist efforts by the incoming Trump administration to deport illegal immigrants in the state, pledging to stand against what she characterized as harmful federal policies.

Proposition 314 and Arizona’s Immigration Enforcement
Hobbs’ statement comes less than two weeks after Arizona voters gave President-elect Donald Trump a five-point win in the state and approved Proposition 314, also known as the “Secure Border Act,” with 63% support. The measure grants state authorities new powers over immigration enforcement, including expanded roles for local police and state judges. However, its implementation depends on similar laws in Texas or other states surviving federal court challenges for at least 60 days. Hobbs’ Track Record on Border Policies
Hobbs has consistently opposed measures aimed at enhancing state-level immigration enforcement. During her tenure as a state senator, she voted against state budgets that funded the Border Strike Task Force, a unit launched by former Republican Governor Doug Ducey to combat border-related crimes.
As governor, Hobbs took a firm stance against unauthorized border security measures. She oversaw the dismantling of a makeshift border wall made of shipping containers in the Coronado National Forest. The structure, erected under Ducey without federal approval, was removed under Hobbs’ administration, citing federal compliance and environmental concerns.
In March 2024, Hobbs vetoed Senate Bill 1231, which would have criminalized unauthorized entry into Arizona outside official ports of entry. Hobbs argued that the bill raised constitutional and legal issues while posing challenges for communities and law enforcement.
“This legislation would harm communities and businesses in our state and impose unnecessary burdens on law enforcement and the judicial system,” Hobbs explained in her veto statement.
The influx of illegal immigrants has been linked to various economic and social challenges in Arizona. A study by the Federation for American Immigration Reform estimated that illegal immigration costs state and local governments over $150 billion annually. These costs are associated with education, health care and law enforcement services.

If Hobbs tries to block the deportation of illegals by the federal government, isn’t that interfering with federal law enforcement officers? And might that result in her being handcuffed, arrested and marched off to jail?

Of course she is. She is as far left as it gets; I hope the people of Arizona are listening to her promises. She more than likely cheated in her bid in being elected against her Republican proponent, that said it follows many negative things she has done while being a far-left governor. This latest testimony about her intensions to stop deportation of illegal immigrants should break the hair on the camel’s back. The cost of supporting illegals far exceeds the cost in deportation. America notwithstanding, all states are border states with the influx of Biden’s illegals he flew into states unannounced. Arizona is not an exception to the rule, they need to be picked up and deported for the good of America and the American people. Sounds like this would be a great opportunity to recall this governor.
Recall is an excellent idea. It has been done before and not all that long ago in AZ. And Hobbs did cheat in that election because she was the recorder and did not step down because of that conflict of interest. Time to get that going. A lot of folks in this state will back that action!

First of all, this is a Federal issue and the POTUS doesn’t need her opinion about anything as he can take whatever action is needed to deport these illegal invaders, by the United States Armed Forces with whatever force deemed necessary. Secondly, there is serious speculation that Katie Hobbs has usurped the Governor’s Office utilizing election fraud, and that will be immediately resolved upon the president-elect taking his oath of office. If the investigation findings are that she did illegally rig & steal the election, Kari Lake will be installed as the duly elected Governor of Arizona and cooperate willingly with the Trump Administrations deportation process and Ms. Hobbs will promptly be placed under arrest and properly prosecuted.

I live and work 7 miles North of an unprotected area of the southern border. I would challenge her highness to spend just one night, alone on that border and listen to the ‘traffic’. She is not protecting Arizona or this country…she needs to be impeached!

To the gub’nor of Arizona, President Trump will transfer all the federal agents from the fbi, ATF, IRS and DEA to DHS and ICE. He will flood your state with federal agents, and with the help of your Arizona Patriot sheriffs rid Arizona of the illegal aliens. And, there ain’t a damn thing you can do about it.
