Ex-Trump Lawyer John Eastman Officially Disbarred

The State of has officially disbarred for his role in former President 's efforts to overturn the 2020 election.

The news follows last week's recommendation to disbar Eastman. State Bar Court Judge found the pro- attorney culpable on 10 of the 11 counts filed by the last year. The bar association sought to strip Eastman's license to practice law in the state due to his “false and misleading statements” about baseless election fraud and his role in “provoking” the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.

“Eastman's wrongdoing was committed directly in the course and scope of his representation of President Trump and the Trump Campaign,” Roland wrote in his 128-page ruling. “Eastman's actions transgressed those ethical limits by advocating, participating in and pursuing a strategy to challenge the results of the that lacked evidentiary or legal support.” (RELATED: MSNBC Legal Analyst: Trump Trial Dead After Shocking Twist)

Lawyers often lose their licenses due to mistreating clients, misappropriating funds or not representing their interests. However, Eastman's case was unique, and has national repercussions, as Raw Story explains:

The status update comes with a hefty consumer alert warning would-be clients that Eastman was been charged with a felony in Georgia, where Fulton County District Attorney Fani Wills has accused the lawyer, Trump and more than a dozen others with election racketeering.

proceedings against Eastman began last year after the California State Bar declared him guilty of 11 ethics violations.
