Hamtramck, Michigan Approves Animal Sacrifice for Religious Reasons

-

A Detroit suburb's city council has approved the use of in-home animal sacrifices for religious reasons.

The Hamtramck City Council's 3-2 vote allows for the practice, which is relatively common in the Muslim community during the holiday of Eid al-Adha. A goat or sheep, most often, is slaughtered. The animal's meat is then shared between family members and the less fortunate.

Citizens who follow the practice must notify the city and consent to make their property available for inspection.

WXYZ-TV Detroit reports:

The decision ultimately came down to a more than 30-year-old U.S. Supreme Court ruling that says cities cannot infringe on religious under the first amendment.

Many people, including Muslim residents, were against it citing sanitary concerns if the animals are sacrificed in a home and not in a sterile environment, especially in the tight neighborhoods of Hamtramck.

The ordinance that was passed Tuesday night says religious sacrificing of animals can be done as long as it is done legally and humanely.

“I think it's the best compromise. We don't want to restrict religious freedoms and we don't want to keep it random without regulations,” Hamtramck Mayor Amer Ghalib said.

Hamtramck is home to 28,000 people. Polish immigrants comprised the largest share of the population throughout most of the 20th century. Today, about half of all residents can trace their family's heritage to Muslim-majority countries.

  1. Obama sent a majority of Muslims up to these areas. This is only the beginning. Is PETA going to speak up or are they too under the Communist Dem in the US?

  2. Anyone promoting the First Commandment violating First Amendment has no basis upon which to denounce the Muslims’ “right” to practice their religion as they see fit.

Question: Is America’s landscape dotted with Mosques, Synagogues, and Temples devoted to gods not Yahweh (God of the Bible) because of the First Commandment or because of the First Commandment violating First Amendment?

Clue: It’s not because of the First Commandment!

Consequently, every America who promotes the First Amendment is complicit in everything biblically abominable (including terrorist acts and our posterity proselytized to their false gods) committed in the name of any of these false gods and/or at the hands of their devotees.

  3. Detroit’s citizens should approve sacrifices of the suburb’s city council for religious reasons.

Heck, I might start attending church on a regular basis if this catches on.
