House Speaker Mulls Impeachment Inquiry Into Attorney General Garland

-

Kevin McCarthy, R-Calif., signaled an interest in supporting an impeachment effort against Attorney General Merrick Garland on Sunday.

McCarthy cited Garland's “weaponization” of the and political bias along with an IRS whistleblower's claims about tax investigations into Hunter Biden as reasons behind the potential impeachment inquiry.

“We need to get to the facts, and that includes reconciling these clear disparities. U.S. Attorney  must provide answers to the House Judiciary Committee,” McCarthy tweeted.

“If the whistleblowers' allegations are true, this will be a significant part of a larger impeachment inquiry into 's weaponization of DOJ.”

The White House pushed back against efforts to impeach Garland in a statement Monday.

“Speaker McCarthy and the extreme are proving they have no positive agenda to actually help the American people on the issues most important to them and their families,” White House spokesman for oversight and investigations Ian Sams said in a statement first obtained by The Hill.

Last week, Republicans on the House Ways and Means Committee released testimony from two IRS whistleblowers who were involved in investigating 's . The two sources alleged that prosecutors intentionally dragged out the case against the President's son.

Last week, Hunter Biden reached a plea deal to plead guilty to two counts of willful failure to pay income tax and an agreement to enter a pretrial diversion program relating to illegal possession of a weapon. (RELATED: Report: Hunter Biden To Plead Guilty To Tax, Gun Crimes)

Last week, Garland rebuked claims that Hunter Biden was given more leniency due to his relation to President Biden.

“As I said from the moment of my appointment as attorney general, I would leave this matter in the hands of the attorney — who was appointed by the previous president and assigned to this matter by the previous administration — that he would be given full authority to decide the matter as he decided was appropriate, and that's what he's done,” Garland said.

Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-Ga., filed impeachment articles against Garland in May. The motion had six co-sponsors.

“In his conduct as Attorney General of the United States, in violation of his constitutional oath faithfully to execute the office of the Attorney General of the United States, and, to the best of his ability, preserve, protect, and defend, the Constitution of the United States, Merrick Brian Garland continues to materially endanger the justice system of the United States and empower President Joseph R. Biden, Jr., to persecute his political adversaries at will,” the articles read.

  1. McCarthy won’t be doing anything for America. Hunter got off because Garland is corrupt. Biden is a unamerican unmoral president who hates the American people. Democrats are not going by the laws. Hillary still walking free, Obama running the country behind closed doors. Republicans have a good talk about nothing. Impeachment now for Biden and his administration and Harris. No more funding for FBI, DOJ, EPA or any department letting poison in the American people food. Arrest Bill Gates for putting cancer in fake meat and pushing the poison vaccines. The list goes on. Will see who stands up for America and her people. It sure won’t be a democrat or rino!

    • Hunter did not get off. It is still being reviewed and there is more to come re: Hunter’s deal with foreign $$$ and Biden. Don’t rule out HRC being taken down either. More republicans in office this next election will give them more power to clean this up deep down in gov.’t. That’s what is needed but they have to have a majority in both houses to weaken the Democrats.

  2. Biden, his vice president and his entire cabinet need to resign. They are all there because they are part of his gang of crooks and liars. This is the worst administration in the history of this country.

  3. This man is so totally corrupt that not even Biden is as bad. (At least Biden has the excuse that he’s a loon.) The power went to this man’s head and formed a god syndrome. He needs his wings clipped permanently.

  4. Great move – impeach Garland and be rid of the Democrat mole. Like the majority of Democrats he did break his oath of office and no longer deserves to be in congress. I hope any retirement fund ends at that point also. He has not earned anything – he’s a traitor.

  5. Yes McCarthy, go get Garland, then remember to get the other big traitors and crooks, starting with Bumbling Biden and Kamala too.

  6. It’s about time. He allowed the injustices against the J6ers,the gestapo type raids on republicans and a two tiered injusticejudicial system. impeach him and remove this corrupt useless POS.

  7. Just do it for being a Democrat pawn that does their political bidding. He breaks the law and the trust of the people of this country by doing so.

  8. McCarthy needs to hold lying Garland accountable. All he has done is lie, lie using the DOJ for his own sick personal vendettas. He needs to be fired, be gone. He is a sick, bitter old man who did not get to be on the supreme court, thank heavens.
