Mark Meadows Folds to Justice Department Jan. 6 Subpoena

-

Former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows has decided to comply with the 's investigation into the events of the Jan. 6th Capitol riot and the implications could cause a big headache for .

Reports have confirmed that Trump's former right-hand man handed over key documents to prosecutors that he also shared with the House Select Committee after being served a subpoena. The move is concerning for Trump because of Meadows' known expertise and his cooperation with the Justice Department could signal he's ready to fully assist with the federal investigation.

“Meadows knows more about Trump's crimes than anybody,” the left-wing blog Palmer Report tweeted.

Last year, Meadows shared documents, including text messages to hosts sent during the raid on the Capitol with the House Select Committee.

Meadows' cooperation now makes him the highest-ranking Trump official to respond to the subpoena connected to the federal investigation into January 6th.

Last December, Meadows refused to cooperate with a subpoena issued by the House Select Committee arguing he's shielded by Trump's assertion of executive privilege or his right to keep the information confidential. The House voted to hold Meadows in criminal contempt of Congress, but the Justice Department declined to prosecute the former chief of staff. Political commentators and experts have raised concerns about what Meadows' cooperation could potentially mean for Trump as the Jan. 6th investigation heats up.

Tristen Snell, lawyer and former assistant attorney general for New York state, says Meadows' decision to comply with the subpoena signals he's been working with the DOJ, according to Newsweek.

“This is why DOJ did not prosecute Meadows for contempt of Congress: he was already working with them,” Snell tweeted.

“This is NOT good for Trump. Meadows was Trump's right-hand man on everything related to January 6.”

Palmer Report also called attention to Meadows' cooperation with the DOJ, saying it's “bad news” for the Trump camp.

“Meadows has a history of partially cooperating against Trump, so he can keep himself out of prison while telling himself he's still remaining loyal to Trump. So there's reason to suspect he could be doing the same here.

“But regardless of whether Meadows has fully complied with the DOJ subpoena, the fact that he's given the DOJ as much as he gave the House is still very bad news for Trump. It renders moot the question of whether the House is sharing everything with the DOJ.”

The investigation into the Jan. 6th capitol riot has been heating up, last week the Justice Department served dozens of subpoenas to people associated with the former President.

  1. This is frightening. What has our country become, that the government is spending so much time and resources on a witch hunt? I know that the populist movement is a huge threat to corrupt career politicians. But to go to this extent to try to crush populism? They must feel really secure in their power.

    • How naive you are. This is Socialist government take over, plain and simple. After the witch hunt Inquisition sentences thousands of innocent demonstrators to house arrest will come the declaration of national marshal law. Confiscation of your phone and your guns. The government already has control of your bank account and like Trudeau did to emasculate the truckers in Canada, Biden can cut off your funds.

      • Should the left wing government try to confiscate everyone’s weapons it will be the spark that starts that second American revolution that has been talked about for several years now. Once it starts it will destroy this country and the United States of America will cease to exist.

  2. “Meadows knows more about Trump’s crimes than anybody,” the Palmer Report tweeted.

Can you even imagine a more politically biased statement than this?

    • Exactly. An unbiased “report” would have said “Meadows knows more about Trump’s activities…”. This inflammatory language is used by liberal media all the time! So typica.

  3. Sadly, President Trump had too many RINOs surrounding him. Hopefully, he learned a lesson: Do NOT fire Steve Bannon again.

  4. No one can stand against corrupt politicians who are not held responsible for using tyrannical powers on their victims. Those who fail to fold and cooperate in their kangaroo investigations can be financially ruined by legal fees like General Flynn, and have IRS and FBI sicced on them. Process crimes are a favorite weapon of the corrupt FBI.
