Missouri State Rep. Files First Resolution Condemning Trump’s Indictment

-

Washington, D.C. – A member of the Missouri legislature is asking his colleagues to officially condemn the indictment of former President Donald J. Trump by a County grand jury.

GOP State Rep. of St. Peters, Mo., Tuesday called Manhattan District Attorney 's effort to move forward on the 34-count felony indictment a “blatant political prosecution” that would further divide the country and increase the level of political polarization some analysts believe is damaging public confidence in the U.S. electoral system.

“The actions of the Manhattan District Attorney against former President Trump,” Christofanelli said in a release, “are clearly driven by partisan animus and will only serve to undermine the confidence of the public in our system of government.”

Christofanelli's resolution, HR 1816 currently has 20 co-sponsors, all Republicans and the GOP is the majority party in the Missouri House, but, according to the chamber's website, it is not currently on the calendar nor are any committee hearings scheduled.

Should the House approve his bill, Christofanelli said, it would then be delivered to Bragg at his office in . No other resolutions condemning Trump's indictment are known to be pending in any of the nation's 99 other state legislative chambers though more are expected to be filed.

  1. Hooray for Phil Christofanelli and the Missouri legislature if they pass this! Notably, they are the only legislature considering such an obvious resolution amongst the 99 other State Legislative chambers. If it were a Republican DA prosecuting a woke Leftist politician, it would be just the reverse. Such resolutions would be under consideration in 98 of the 99 State Legislative chambers and the Federal House and Senate. The dismissal of two Tennesee legislators got unanimous condemnation from Democrats and their controlled press. The Democrats fear nothing the Republicans will do because they, like Republican voters, know that the Republicans lack the will and conviction to stand up to them.

This message to the citizens is that the Republicans don’t have their back. For Republicans, the most they can do is whine about “this is unprecedented” and that this act is “potentially a threat to something or other.” In other words, to paraphrase Shakespeare, a pile of chicken manure full of sound and fury signifying nothing. The Republicans don’t denounce Democrats for what they are doing. The Democrats not only attack the Republicans, but they dog whistle gangs to riot and destroy things all over the country.

There are many things conservatives can say about Bragg, especially from the House floor, that he was like a fascist dirtbag and racial opportunist, betraying his oaths of office and code of lawyer’s ethics and then bringing lawsuits civil and criminal against him and his office. They could vow not even to consider funding his office or some other New York State program in the upcoming budget markups. We are well past listening to arguments from media and commentators who haven’t had an independent thought since the turn of the century.

If Conservatives don’t stand up to the totalitarian Left taking over the country, they will win, loot the country, destroy individual rights, and replace them with collectivist coercion. They will then blame white people and Donald Trump, and no one will be around to assert the truth. As a result, the country’s suffering, death, and poverty will increase until the Left runs out of town. This will take about four generations. What comes after is anyone’s guess.

  2. Great news but this Soros DA will just blow it off. A MO resolution delivered to him might just make him more inclined to thumb his nose.

Might be better to fan the resolution in the press and let other legislatures copy its firm and chime into the news cycle.

  3. Unfortunately, I believe many in our country and around the world already see that our justice and our electoral systems are already compromised and not trustworthy as they watch our politicians do nothing! IMO
