Report: Justice Department Urging Court to Hold Trump Legal Team in Contempt

-

President Biden's Department of Justice (DOJ) is ramping up its fight against former President Donald Trump.

The is reportedly asking a federal judge to hold Trump's legal team in contempt for failing to hand over classified documents to authorities. According to The Daily Wire, the DOJ submitted a request to U.S. District Court Judge Beryl Howell, however, the filing remains sealed.

DOJ lawyers reportedly want the Trump team to appoint a custodian of records who can verify and swear to their claim that the former president has no classified documents in his possession. Trump's team has said that the request is excessive and that no attorney should make such an unqualified claim.

The DOJ's request follows a monthslong battle that springs from the FBI's unprecedented raid of Trump's Mar-a-Lago residence. (RELATED: Court Overturns Pro-Trump Ruling in Mar-a-Lago Documents Case)

Since the raid and amid the ongoing legal battle between the Trump team and the Justice Department, Trump approved a search of several of his properties done by a private firm. That search turned up at least two materials with classified markings found in a storage unit in West Palm Beach, . No such documents were found in searches of Trump Tower in New York and Trump's golf club in Bedminster, .

Trump spokesman Steven Cheung told the Post that Trump's attorneys “continue to be cooperative and transparent.” He echoed Trump's attacks against the investigation, saying, “This is a political witch hunt unlike anything like this country has ever seen.”

  1. We, the people, already hold the DOJ in contempt.

COS (Convention Of States) would go a long ways towards taking tyranny away from the government, and giving decency back to the people.

  2. We are in the age of the political predator. The democrats are on purpose 24 hours a day. They eat, sleep and drink their predatory thoughts and actions.
