Former President Donald Trump is formally asking the Supreme Court to block the release of his tax returns to House Democrats.
Since 2019, congressional Democrats have sought the former president's tax returns. On Thursday, the Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit unanimously denied Trump's latest court bid to keep his 2015-20 tax returns and those of his businesses out of the hands of the House Ways and Means Committee. The committee argues that it's necessary to obtain said records to review the IRS auditing process for presidents.

Trump's lawyers say the committee's stated purpose that it needed the information to probe how the Internal Revenue Service conducts the auditing process for presidents did not stand up to scrutiny.
“The committee's purpose in requesting President Trump's tax returns has nothing to do with funding or staffing issues at the IRS and everything to do with releasing the president's tax information to the public,” the lawyers wrote in the court filing.
The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia Circuit on Thursday declined to reconsider a three-judge panel's ruling from August that said the House Ways and Means Committee could obtain the tax returns.

Under federal law, tax returns are kept confidential but there are some exceptions, including one that allows the chairman of the committee to request them.
Trump's records are set to be turned over to the Ways and Means Committee on Wednesday.

No other President has had to have his tax information audited by Congress. This is a witch hunt, nothing more. Where, for example, is OBAMA’s tax information? How about Joe Biden? Again, nada!
