WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Sunday night begrudgingly called on House Republicans to advance legislation that would force the Department of Justice to disclose all remaining files tied to the late sex trafficker Jeffrey Epstein. The reversal came even as his administration has yet to release the full set of documents.
Trump Pushes for Disclosure
Trump wrote on Truth Social that House Republicans “should vote to release the Epstein files because we have nothing to hide.”
He argued that Democrats have used the issue to “deflect from the Great Success of the Republican Party.”
He then broadened his point, insisting that the matter had already been thoroughly examined. “The Department of Justice has already turned over tens of thousands of pages to the Public on ‘Epstein,’ are looking at various Democrat operatives (Bill Clinton, Reid Hoffman, Larry Summers, etc.) and their relationship to Epstein, and the House Oversight Committee can have whatever they are legally entitled to, I DON’T CARE! All I do care about is that Republicans get BACK ON POINT.”
The statement marked a sharp shift from his recent criticism of Republicans who supported the release effort. He had labeled them “very bad, or stupid, Republicans.”
Pressure From the Base
The shift comes as parts of Trump’s MAGA base grow skeptical and frustrated, believing files related to Epstein’s horrid crimes and past investigations are being withheld to protect elite figures — fueling rampant and unwelcome speculation for the president ahead of a difficult midterm election year.
Earlier this month, the Republican-led House Oversight Committee released more than 20,000 pages of documents from the Epstein estate. (RELATED: Jeffrey Epstein’s Quiet Role In Russia’s Anti-Trump Efforts Exposed)
Nevertheless, calls for full disclosure have continued to grow — including from lawmakers in both parties — who want access to additional records still held by the FBI and the DOJ.
Transparency Concerns
The administration has struggled to calm concerns among supporters who believe transparency in the Epstein matter has been uneven. The White House has emphasized that several categories of files are exempt from release under federal law, including grand jury materials, sealed court records, and documents that could compromise the confidentiality of victims.
While the Justice Department and White House have repeatedly cited these legal barriers, some critics argue that the same restrictions are being used to justify withholding large volumes of material that are not strictly related to grand jury or victim-sensitive matters, creating a perception of selective transparency. Earlier this year, Attorney General Pam Bondi and her deputy informed Trump that his name appeared in the Epstein files. The disclosure has intensified internal pressure over how the administration handles the release process.
Legislation Set for Vote
The Epstein Files Transparency Act is expected to receive a vote in the House on Tuesday. The bill would require the DOJ to declassify and release Epstein-related records while protecting victim-identifying and other sensitive information.
The measure appears likely to pass the House, but its fate in the Senate is unclear.
While the president has the authority to direct the Justice Department to release the Epstein files without congressional authorization, he has never ordered the full file to be made public.

Well, now that Trump realizes the files show Epstein’s resentment against Trump for throwing him out of Trump’s Florida palace, and Epstein’s influence with others, there is no harm, only applause for Trump. Best for people to learn that by reading the files themselves.
Release the files, be dammed if you have something to hide, America deserves to .
