On Thursday afternoon, President Donald Trump announced a significant reshuffling of his national security team. Mike Waltz, who had been serving as National Security Adviser, is being nominated as the next U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Concurrently, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will assume the role of acting National Security Adviser while maintaining his duties at the State Department.
“I am pleased to announce that I will be nominating Mike Waltz to be the next United States Ambassador to the United Nations. From his time in uniform on the battlefield, in Congress and, as my National Security Advisor, Mike Waltz has worked hard to put our Nation’s Interests first. I know he will do the same in his new role,” Trump said on Truth Social.
Trump added, “In the interim, Secretary of State Marco Rubio will serve as National Security Advisor, while continuing his strong leadership at the State Department. Together, we will continue to fight tirelessly to Make America, and the World, SAFE AGAIN. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”
Waltz leaving his post at the National Security Council and moving to the ambassador role, which will require Senate confirmation, marks the first major shifting of positions in Trump’s second administration.
Waltz’s reassignment follows the “Signalgate” controversy, wherein he inadvertently included journalist Jeffrey Goldberg in a Signal group chat discussing sensitive U.S. military plans targeting Houthi rebels in Yemen. Although the administration stated that no classified information was disclosed, the incident raised concerns about the handling of secure communications.

I think that was intentional. A good chance that was a setup. There are still some worms in the wood. I have a hard time believing that you accidentally put the name of a guy who is a far left nut case who supports every communist leaning democrat there is and doesn’t have a problem lying thru his teeth. Just an accident – I think not.
Hopefully, Trump will soon put Walz out of work. By quitting the damned UN. That fine building in NYC could house lots of homeless veterans.
