Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent acknowledged Wednesday that he threatened to “kick ass” during a heated confrontation last year, while firmly denying reports that he threatened to punch the now-acting Director of National Intelligence “in the face.”

The unusual exchange emerged during a Senate Finance Committee hearing, where Sen. Thom Tillis (R-NC) pressed Bessent about reports surrounding a confrontation between the two Trump administration officials during the summer of 2025.

According to Bessent, one key detail in the widely circulated account was inaccurate.

The Supreme Court on Friday allowed the Trump administration to move forward with plans to revoke humanitarian parole protections for more than 500,000 migrants from four Latin American countries. The decision marks a pivotal moment in the administration’s broader effort to tighten the nation’s immigration system and roll back discretionary executive programs from the Biden era.

In an unsigned order, the Court lifted a prior injunction that had blocked the administration from ending a parole initiative launched under President Biden. That program permitted nationals from Cuba, Haiti, Nicaragua, and Venezuela to legally enter the United States under humanitarian grounds, granting them temporary residence and work authorization.

Supporters of the policy had credited it with helping reduce illegal border crossings and offering a structured alternative for migrants fleeing unstable conditions. But the Department of Homeland Security — now led by Secretary Kristi Noem — argued the program exceeded the legal bounds of executive authority. The department maintained that parole is meant to be used narrowly, on a case-by-case basis, not as a large-scale workaround to congressional inaction.

The administration’s position triggered immediate legal challenges from immigrant advocacy organizations and individuals facing potential removal. A federal district court in Massachusetts initially sided with the plaintiffs, ruling that the broad termination effort lacked individualized review and potentially violated administrative law. That ruling was later upheld by a federal appeals court.

However, the Supreme Court’s decision effectively overrides those lower court rulings for now, allowing the administration to implement the policy change while litigation continues. Justices Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson dissented, warning that the move could lead to “devastating consequences” for families who relied on the parole program for legal stability.

The dissent noted that many beneficiaries of the program could now face deportation to countries still reeling from political unrest and economic collapse.

This latest move is part of a wider push by the Trump administration to reassert control over immigration policy and restrict discretionary grants of legal entry. Earlier this year, President Trump signed Executive Order 14159, which expanded expedited removal, tightened asylum standards, and ramped up enforcement against undocumented immigrants.

Critics argue that ending the parole program risks destabilizing lives and may push lawful migrants into undocumented status. Advocacy groups have described the policy shift as a step toward mass illegalization, warning it could erode U.S. commitments to humanitarian principles.

For now, the ruling clears the way for immigration officials to begin removals. Whether the administration’s legal rationale holds up in court remains to be seen — but the practical impact on thousands of migrant families is already taking shape.

This is a breaking news story. Please check back for updates.

No idea why we are wasting so much time and money on this back and forth Supreme Court intervention to deport those who should not be here in the first place.

Just what is it about “illegal” that the courts are failing to understand these days?

    ahem tonto

Sonia Sotomayor and Ketanji Brown Jackson, are so far to the left they should be impeached for failure to correctly interpret the constitution and our immigration statutes. All are racists and never Trumpers and should be impeached and sent to assignments they are capable of performing, stuffing envelopes.
