Border czar Tom Homan said Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent Jonathan Ross is currently “in hiding” due to safety concerns following the fatal shooting of Renee Good, according to remarks made during a Tuesday episode of Will Cain Country.
Homan’s comments came after a federal Special Response Team was seen swarming Ross’ Minneapolis residence on Friday and removing personal belongings, an action first reported by the Daily Mail. During the interview, host Will Cain suggested that ICE agents may pursue defamation lawsuits against prominent left-wing figures who have accused Ross of murder.
Homan responded that such legal action is likely once the investigation into the shooting concludes.
“I think things are so bad now, Will, you’re going to see that start happening,” Homan said. “For this agent that was involved in the shooting, I think he’s going to wait for this investigation to play itself out and wait for them to come out with actual facts, what happened.”
Homan said Ross has been forced to remain out of public view after his identity and personal information were widely circulated online.
“Then I think you may see him take action because I know for a fact now he has to be in hiding,” Homan said. “I seen a post this morning on the way to the studio here with his picture, ‘wanted for murder.’ It’s beyond the pale.”
Cain asked Homan to confirm that Ross was, in fact, in hiding.
“Yes. For the safety of him and his family,” Homan said. “I mean, there are wanted posters with his picture, his license plate number, and the death threats against him and his family.”
Homan also noted that senior officials in President Donald Trump’s administration had inadvertently made it easier for journalists to identify Ross by disclosing that he had previously been dragged by a suspect’s vehicle during a pursuit in June 2025.
The shooting occurred Wednesday during an ICE operation in Minneapolis. Ross fired his weapon after Renee Good allegedly accelerated her vehicle toward ICE agents during a confrontation.
Democrats have characterized the shooting as murder, while the Trump administration has maintained that Ross acted in self-defense. The incident remains under investigation.
