A man suspected of committing a triple homicide in southern Illinois was captured on video late Wednesday night attempting to target far-right streamer Nick Fuentes at his home. The dramatic footage, taken from a doorbell camera, shows the suspect, 24-year-old John Lyons, armed with a pistol and a crossbow.
Authorities say Lyons traveled over 140 miles to Fuentes’ residence after allegedly killing three family members: Sara Mason, Janis L. Mason and Caleb M. Mason. Fuentes, who was livestreaming at the time, did not answer the door, likely averting a deadly encounter.
The killer parked his car in front of my house and approached my door with his pistol drawn and what appears to be a crossbow. I was livestreaming at the time.

This chilling incident follows a separate confrontation earlier this month when Fuentes was charged with battery after a woman, 57-year-old Marla Rose, arrived at his Chicago-area home to film his property. According to NBC News, Fuentes pepper-sprayed her, pushed her to the ground and broke her phone during the altercation. Police reported that Rose showed no visible injuries but had watery eyes.

In a post to X (formerly Twitter), Fuentes described the sequence of events leading to the aborted assassination attempt, stating:
“According to police, the would-be assassin committed a triple homicide in southern Illinois early yesterday before he arrived at my doorstep with his pistol drawn, calling my name.”
Unfortunately, the rampage didn’t end there. Lyons reportedly broke into a neighbor’s home to evade police, tragically killing two of their dogs. Fuentes reflected on the situation, saying, “While heartbreaking, it could have been so unimaginably worse.”
Later that evening, Lyons engaged in a shootout with police and was fatally shot. Multiple outlets, including Chicago’s WGN, have provided further details on the standoff:
Just before 11:40 p.m., Berwyn police responded to a report of a male with a gun in the 1800 block of Home Avenue.
Officers located the man, identified Thursday afternoon as John Lyons, 24, of Westchester, but he ran off. Lyons then forced entry into a home in the 1800 block of Wenonah Avenue and shot two dogs to death, according to police.
The resident of the home and owner of the dogs, Scott Wishecoby, said he found Lyons in his basement.
“When I turned on the light the guy was standing at the end of the basement and just started shooting. He shot, shot, shot. I blocked my son and I told him to get upstairs and get his mother and get out of the house. He ran. He was fast, and by the time I was running he was chasing me through the basement shooting,” Wishecoby told WGN.
Wishecoby’s wife and son managed to escape the house and sought refuge at a neighbor’s. Later, Lyons was spotted heading east. According to police, he fired at officers, who returned fire, ultimately killing him.
