Sellers, a former South Carolina representative and now political pundit, was speaking out against cuts proposed by President Trump and others to departments like Education and Agriculture. I know how it works.”

The debate intensified as the two men, along with the other guests on the panel, engaged in a fierce discussion about the impact of budget cuts on public services. Sellers sharply criticized O’Leary’s business-oriented perspective, arguing that everyday government cannot and should not be run like a business.
O’Leary, however, remained steadfast in his belief that drastic cuts were needed to make government operations more efficient. He referred to business practices in the private sector, where layoffs and cuts are often implemented to streamline operations and boost efficiency.
The discussion turned to education, with O’Leary claiming that poor student performance was largely due to bad educators. Sellers and other liberal-leaning panelists quickly countered, arguing that the root cause of educational issues was “poverty” and “hunger,” not the quality of teachers, despite the fact that as the United States has become richer with less children than ever going hungry, their literacy, mathematics and cognitive abilities have drastically declined.
