CNN’s Don Lemon Desperately Tries to Link Climate Change to Hurricane Ian, He Immediately Regrets It

-

's attempt to steer towards “just the facts” isn't going well.

As continues to build and move toward , Don Lemon invited National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) director Jamie Rohme onto the network to discuss the Category 4 hurricane.

As Director Rohme attempted to explain to viewers what exactly is occurring within Hurricane Ian and even offer a small glimmer of positive news it was clear Lemon had his own agenda for the interview.

Immediately, the CNN host asked if climate change was connected to the hurricane and what effect it could be having, according to HotAir.

“Well, we can come back and talk about climate change at a later time. I want to focus on the here-and-now. We think the rapid intensification is probably almost done, there could be a little bit more intensification as it still is over the warm waters of the eastern Gulf of Mexico, but I don't think we're gonna get any more rapid intensification,” Director Rohme answered. “If you look here, you can actually see, pretty interesting for your viewers, you can actually see a second eyewall forming around the inner eyewall, and that's basically the second eyewall has overtaken the original eyewall and that should arrest development.”

One would assume that Lemon would have enough sense to take Rohme's hint and lay off the subject of climate change going forward. The CNN host would also be wise to remember that this same partisan angling is what has cost many of his colleagues their positions with the network entirely. Instead, he pressed on. (RELATED:

“So listen, I just, I'm just trying to get the, you said you want to talk about climate change. But what effect does climate change to have on this phenomenon that is happening now?” Lemon asked once again. “Because it seems these storms are intensifying. That's the question.”

Once again Rohme cautioned against linking climate change to one singular phenomenon.

“I don't think you can link climate change to any one event,” Rohme replied. “On the whole, on the cumulative, climate change may be making storms worse, but to link it to any one event, I would caution against that.”

However, the NOAA director's expertise still wasn't enough to convince the CNN hotshot that climate change isn't to blame for the hurricane currently barreling toward Florida.

“Okay, well, listen, I grew up there and these storms are intensifying. Something is causing them to intensify,” Lemon quipped.

Instead of leaning on the obvious knowledge that hurricanes have impacted Florida for decades before Lemon “grew up there” or understanding the fact that Rohme obviously has more expertise on the subject Lemon couldn't resist injecting his own agenda into the interview.

Lemon intentionally chose to ignore his guest's obvious signaling to shift away from the subject of climate change and then chose to ignore the obvious fact that this hurricane season has been blessedly mild so far.

While the number of storms isn't pacing far below the season-to-date average, State University tropical scientist Phil Klotzbach pointed out it was the first time in 40 years that no named storms formed from July 3 – August 22 in the Atlantic Basin.

It's clear that Lemon has no intention of abandoning his partisan ways anytime soon which will likely lead to his eventual departure from the network. For now, it seems CNN viewers are stuck waiting.

  1. The epitome of stupid. Hurricanes have been around far longer than Lemon and in all categories. Climate garbage is the fools claim. Climate has been cycling since earth’s inception and the biggest reason is the sun….not human.

  2. I don’t know what His Parents got, for allowing this creature to live, but they should have gotten life in Prison. He should have been in a condom and thrown away.

  3. This is the caliber of people CNN hires. Nothing new here. Trying to push your agenda off on a person educated in the subject is pure stupidity. Lemon was trying to change his mind and that wasn’t going to happen. Hopefully HE got educated.

  4. This is the 5th I think major hurricane like this since the early 1900’s. It’s called weather Lemon…weather…there are far more people in FL now. So what’s your answer…get rid of people? Of course it’s going to be worse. People take up space so there’s less room for water.

  5. *Sigh* Just another example of leftist idiocy. Everything MUST be about their pet buzzwords. I sincerely hope that the empty talking head, Don Lemon, gets fired and is unable to find another on-camera network job.

  6. No one is talking about the storm Camille which slammed into Gulf Port, Miss. in the late 60s. 200 people thought they would ride it out and they died. It was a very large storm that must have impacted Florida as well.

  7. Lemon is an indoctrinated moron and probably actually believes all the crap he has been fed. If CNN is serious in its desire to move away from full-time Prog propaganda, they need to send Lemon packing. Perhaps Tater can help find him a job at one of the Ivy Leagues.

    • 1935 Great Labor Day Hurricane.
  9. If there is climate change it is because God (who created the earth and everything in it) is fed up with the people who deny Him and prefer to obey demons. The “democrats” think they are gods and in control of everything. They are in for a bad time. I am old enough to know that the climate has been changing for 84 years and we have lived through it.

  10. Given multiple thrashings he has suffered, I would venture to say that poor Don Lemon is limited to the insipid pabulum of Democrat Socialist talking points, and thus he is a sitting duck, not at all difficult for a knowledgeable, articulate person to shoot down.
