Far-right conservative commentator Laura Loomer is struggling to convince members of Trump’s administration to let her sit in the White House briefing room’s “new media seat.”
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt has opened up her briefings by introducing a journalist from an outlet that isn’t regularly welcome in the briefing room, and allowing that person to ask the opening question.
According to The Bulwark’s Will Sommer, Loomer has applied to be recognized in the seat but has yet to receive a response.
From Sommer’s newsletter:
Despite traveling on Trump Force One with Trump briefly during the campaign, and constantly churning out stories that are friendly to the Trump agenda, Laura Loomer says she’s still waiting for her White House invite.
Loomer, a well known conspiracist, concedes there may be a long list of applicants for the new media seat. But she also says she has a string of scoops—including a story about Hunter Biden’s Secret Service detail that led to it being pulled—that merits a White House pass.
“I’m certainly more high-profile than a lot of the other people who have applied,” Loomer told me.
“Loomer has also privately pressed her case,” reported Sommer. “She told us she had asked Leavitt and White House communications director Steven Cheung directly to get her into the briefing. Leavitt and Cheung didn’t respond to my requests for comment.”
“Perhaps there’s just a backlog, but it would be an honor,” mused Loomer, who has also complained about her exclusion on X.
“I really want a White House Press pass. Could you imagine what I could help expose with one of those? I really want one. @PressSec I applied the day the application opened! I really hope to get one so I can keep exposing corrupt judges and abuse of taxpayer funds,” she wrote in one post earlier this month.

I really want one. @PressSec
I applied the day the application opened! I really hope to get one so I can keep exposing corrupt judges and abuse of taxpayer funds.
“My White House press pass still hasn’t been approved, but Danielle Kurtzleben @titonka, the NPR White House correspondent I exposed, was able to have such close access, she hit President Trump in the face with a boom mic,” she observed in another.
Interesting.

How come @NPR is allowed to have a White House correspondent in the traveling pool then?
If President Trump really believes this, then his own staff should ban @NPR from the White House press briefings.

Trump has faced criticism in the past for his association with Loomer. In September, she rode on his plane with him to his debate with Kamala Harris in Philadelphia. The following day, she attended 9/11 memorials in New York City and Pennsylvania despite her history of promoting 9/11 conspiracy theories.(RELATED: GOP Senator Condemns Laura Loomer’s Influence On Trump, Sparking GOP Debate)
In the summer of 2023, Loomer predicted she would take to the briefing room in another role.
“Someday I will be his [Trump’s] Press Secretary. I will protect him from all of his enemies and haters. They will meet their match in me. #Trump2024,” she tweeted.

Wouldn’t want to offend Netanyahu by having a conservative Jew participating in White House briefings.
I definitely think that the money for NPR & PBS should end now!
the title said she was denied a seat which is extremely misleading and disinformation.. if i understand the substance of the article it says she is waiting to hear about her application. maybe i’m reading this wrong or you need to get it correct
