Seattle Public Schools has begun the process of terminating Ian Golash, the Chief Sealth International High School teacher who said that Hamas was justified in killing women on October 7. Ian Golash’s own father credited Accuracy in Media for his termination.
Seattle radio host Ari Hoffman, who first broke the story about Ian Golash’s October 7 comments, shared a Facebook post by Mike Golash:
“After a year and a half of investigating Ian, the Seattle School Board has decided to terminate Ian as a school teacher. The reason for the termination is that Ian brought his students out to talk to a person who had brought an electronic billboard to the school attacking Ian as anti-Semitic.”
Mike Golash was specifically referring to the AIM mobile billboard that was parked outside of Chief Sealth International High School in a video posted in April 2024. AIM went to confront Ian Golash about his Facebook posts denying Hamas beheaded people and raped women on October 7.
Instead of apologizing, Ian Golash doubled down and said the murder of women was justified as “resistance” against Israel.
Asked, “Were women murdered at the music festival?” Ian Golash confirmed they were. Asked if that was justified, he replied, “Yes.” Ian Golash doubled down by claiming, “No. I think resistance against Israel is justified, yes.”
Not only did Ian Golash directly speak to AIM, but he also brought his students outside to confront AIM as well.
However, the students AIM spoke to were not supportive of his positions and said they were also not surprised by his arrest record for criminal harassment and assault.
Until Mike Golash’s post, the most recent information about Ian Golash was that the district placed him on paid leave.
This comes after AIM brought mobile billboards twice to confront Seattle Public Schools over Ian Golash’s comments. AIM’s activists also sent 13,188 emails to Seattle Public Schools demanding Ian Golash’s removal.
Hoffman elaborated in another post, saying that while Seattle Public Schools has begun its process of terminating Ian Golash, he has appealed the decision, and he will remain on administrative leave until the appeal is finalized.
Speaking to AIM, Hoffman said Ian Golash first came on his radar for failing a student for saying men could not get pregnant. “I have found that without exception, any teacher that has these kinds of radical views also hates Israel,” he explained.
“I think what’s happening right now is I don’t think Seattle Public Schools expected us to keep following up with this. He’s been suspended for over a year at this point and I don’t think they expected me to set a reminder on my phone to bug them every month about why he’s still suspended and why he hasn’t been fired yet or what’s the outcome of the investigation,” Hoffman said.
“I also think that a lot of this is, the Seattle Public Schools is waking up to the fact that the Trump administration isn’t screwing around, and when they say they’re going to withhold funding or investigate people… He was a national story,” Hoffman continued. “Ian Golash was a national story, went viral multiple times for his support of terror, for hanging posters of terrorists in the classroom, for denying the October 7th atrocities, so… it shouldn’t really be surprising that now Seattle Public Schools is worried about losing funding when they already face a huge budget deficit and had to go begging for money from the legislature this year.”
This means AIM’s activism and the emails sent by activists have been vital in keeping pressure on Seattle Public Schools. AIM’s mobile billboards helped spur the national conversation about Ian Golash, with coverage in national news outlets, such as the New York Post. AIM’s activism is continuing to make a difference in making sure anti-American and antisemitic radicals are being removed from classrooms.
