Border czar Tom Homan found himself in a heated exchange with “This Week” guest host Jonathan Karl over the Trump administration’s aggressive efforts to deport members of the Venezuelan gang Tren de Aragua (TdA). The disagreement centered around a ruling by U.S. District Judge James Boasberg, who issued an injunction on March 15, preventing the deportation of several TdA members to El Salvador. Homan’s reaction to Karl’s question about “due process” underscored the absurdity of Karl’s line of questioning.
The dispute began when Karl questioned the deportations, citing concerns about the due process rights of the individuals involved. Homan, however, was quick to challenge the framing, particularly in the context of high profile crimes committed by illegal immigrants. “Due process — where is Laken Riley’s due process? Where are all these young women killed and raped by members of the TdA? Where was their due process? The young woman on the subway, where is her due process?”
Laken Riley was a 22-year-old nursing student at Augusta University on a morning jog when TdA member Jose Ibarra attacked and ultimately murdered her. In December of 2024, a woman sleeping on a train in New York City was lit on fire by a Guatemalan national, and died shortly after.
The debate grew more intense as Homan detailed the nature of the gang members on the deportation flights. He revealed that each individual on the plane had been vetted by intelligence and criminal investigations, confirming their membership in TdA. “The bottom line is, that plane was full of people designated as terrorists,” Homan stated, explaining that the deportees had been thoroughly vetted through surveillance, social media analysis, and intelligence reports. According to Homan, the deportees were members of a violent gang responsible for serious crimes, including kidnappings, murder, and the violent takeover of apartment complexes in cities like Aurora, Colorado.
“As a matter of fact, two days after that flight took off, I even had a discussion with the acting director of ICE, and he reiterated that every person, every Venezuelan on that plane was a known member of the TdA. So, a lot of officers, criminal investigators, special agents who have done this for decades, looked at the intelligence information, the criminal investigation information, all the various social media and surveillance and government records and public records and they are confident they’re all members of the TdA.”
Homan also referenced the Trump administration’s efforts to tackle criminal gangs like TdA. President Trump issued executive orders designating Mexican drug cartels, TdA, and MS-13 as foreign terrorist organizations. Homan argued that the deportation of these individuals was not only justified but necessary to protect public safety and maintain national security.
Homan further criticized the Biden administration for a failure to uphold immigration laws and manage border security. “The Biden Administration not only ignored the law, they violated the law,” he asserted. Homan also highlighted that in just six weeks, the Trump administration had removed 40,000 criminals, far surpassing the number of removals under the Biden administration in a full year.

If an illegal is not citizen how do they have protection rights as a citizen of U.S. ? Shouldn’t their cases be tried at the international Hague, taxpayers should not be footing their support unless vetted and invited.
The sensationalist media is attempting to make it sound as if these gang members, who have been terrorizing, raping, and murdering American citizens were just rounded up at RANDOM for no reason ICE members as well as other Immigration personnel are well trained, professional personnel, who take their job of protecting American citizens citizens seriously. As Homan stated, those on the airplane had been studied, investigated and determined to be a great danger to the citizens of the country.
According to reports from several officials from different states, Tren de Aragua have established their presence throughout the entire United States, including states like Utah, Montana and, Wyoming. It has been stated that these gangs have established a presence and a hold in EVERY state of this country and are a very dangerous aramid gang.
There were no INNOCENT “migrants” on that train. STOP clutching your pearls and claiming that these gang members were grabbed at random, because that is not true; cut the fear mongering BS about being unidentified as a Venezuelan gang member & picked up simply because you have put a tattoo on your arm of your young daughter.. That is nothing but hog wash fear mongering.. ICE and all Immigration officers are WELL trained and professional; they are NOT hoods or gestapo agents just grabbing “innocent” citizens off the street. If you are NOT a criminal, you don’t have to worry about that.
However, if you ARE in the County ILLEGALLY, which incidentally IS a crime, you WILL eventually be deported back to YOUR COUNTRY, and while it took you six months to walk here, you will more than likely be sent back by plane, back TO YOUR COUNTRY.
