ABC News has suspended senior national correspondent Terry Moran following a controversial social media post in which he criticized White House Deputy Chief of Staff Stephen Miller and President Donald Trump. In a now-deleted post on X (formerly Twitter), Moran described Miller as “richly endowed with the capacity for hatred” and referred to him as a “world-class hater,” contrasting him with President Trump by suggesting that Trump’s hatred serves his own glorification, whereas Miller’s is more intrinsic.
“Trump is a world-class hater. But his hatred only [sic] a means to an end, and that end his [sic] his own glorification. That’s his spiritual nourishment,” Moran contended.
The post sparked immediate backlash from conservative figures. White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt labeled Moran’s comments as “unhinged and unacceptable,” while Vice President JD Vance called the remarks a “vile smear” and demanded an apology. Miller’s wife, Katie Miller, also condemned the post, asserting that it exemplified why Americans distrust legacy media and calling for Moran’s immediate termination.

This is unhinged and unacceptable.
We have reached out to @ABC to inquire about how they plan to hold Terry… pic.twitter.com/HsgusJEIvH
In response, ABC News announced Moran’s suspension, stating that his comments violated the network’s standards of objectivity and impartiality. The network emphasized that personal attacks do not align with its values and that Moran’s post did not reflect ABC News’ views.
Fox News provided additional details on the reaction inside the Beltway:
Leavitt also joined Fox News’ “Sunday Morning Futures” and told host Maria Bartiromo that Moran was supposed to be an “unbiased and professional journalist.”
“This is unacceptable and unhinged rhetoric coming from someone who works at a major television network,” Leavitt added. “We have reached out to ABC, they have said they will be taking action, so we will see what they do. But I think this speaks to the distrust the American public have in the legacy media.”

Miller also responded to Moran’s comments on Sunday.
“The most important fact about Terry’s full public meltdown is what it shows about the corporate press in America. For decades, the privileged anchors and reporters narrating and gatekeeping our society have been radicals adopting a journalist’s pose. Terry pulled off his mask,” Miller wrote.

The incident adds to the ongoing tensions between ABC News and the Trump administration. Earlier this year, ABC settled a $15 million defamation lawsuit filed by Trump over comments made by anchor George Stephanopoulos. Additionally, the network is currently under investigation by the Federal Communications Commission, led by Trump-appointed Chairman Brendan Carr.
Moran, who has been with ABC News since 1997, has held various roles, including chief foreign correspondent and chief White House correspondent. His recent interview with President Trump in April was notably tense, with exchanges over topics such as immigration policies and the deportation of Kilmar Abrego Garcia.

Moran isn’t really worried. He wasn’t fired. ABC will let things drift for a couple weeks and bring him back on. Gee, all he did was say the same things that he and others in the news room have been saying all along.
In their view his only mistake was saying it outside the news room.
Golly! He’s part of “saving Democracy” ya know?
Or do like CNN and have him on as an independent paid contributor ( like they did Jim Acosta, wearing oversized, clear glass, horn rim glasses and nodding his head like the mindless bobble-head he Is on subjects – economics, inflation, tariffs, and national inflation and real economic growth rate – my dog knows more and can speak with more authority.on.
