UFC President Dana White has always been vocal about his support for President Donald Trump, but in a recent interview with Piers Morgan on Uncensored, he shared a story that left even him in awe of Trump’s resilience.
After an assassin’s bullet came within one inch of extinguishing Trump’s life at a rally in Pennsylvania last July, White called the president with a simple message: Quit. Walk away. You don’t need this.
“‘Why are you doing this stuff? Stop,’” White recalled telling him. “‘You have such a good life, and you could do all these other things.’”
But quitting isn’t in Trump’s DNA.
“I can’t quit. You don’t ever quit. You never quit,” Trump responded, making it clear that stepping down was never an option.
White, who has known Trump for years, says the president truly believes he was spared for a reason. “He believes in God. He’s very religious. He believes, to his core, that God has spared his life to be the president and to do the things he’s going to do over the next four years.”
White also shared how he first heard the news. “My wife woke me up and said, ‘They just shot President Trump.’ I was freaking out, texting the family. And when I landed, I called him. He was already home from the hospital. Unfazed. I mean, unfazed.”
And if that wasn’t enough to prove Trump’s toughness, White pointed out that the very next day, Trump was back on the road.
“The next day, he went to Milwaukee for the RNC. The next day,” White emphasized. “There are people who survive something like that and never leave their house again. PTSD, mental struggles—whatever. But Trump? He’s one of the strongest, if not the strongest, mentally tough guys I’ve ever met.”
No matter what happens, Trump keeps moving forward. And according to White, that’s exactly why he’s still in the fight.
